The charts include comparisons between the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, as well as with older platforms. There are articles based on our worldwide estimates, as well as the US, Europe, and Japan.
This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the PlayStation 5 and Wii.
The PlayStation 5 launched in November 2020, while the Nintendo Wii launched in November 2006. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do lineup.

May 2025 is the 55th month the PlayStation 5 has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 5 when compared to the aligned launch of the Nintendo Wii by 0.14 million units.
In the last 12 months, the PlayStation 5 has outsold the Nintendo Wii by 3.31 million units. The Nintendo Wii is ahead of the PlayStation 5 by 9.15 million units.
The PlayStation 5 has sold 76.31 million units in 55 months, while the Nintendo Wii sold 85.46 million units. Month 55 for the PlayStation 5 is May 2025 and for the Nintendo Wii it is May 2011.
The Nintendo Wii crossed 90 million units sold worldwide in month 61 and 100 million in month 85. The Nintendo Wii sold 101.63 million units lifetime. The PS5 is 25.32 million units behind lifetime Wii sales.

I think the PS5 will have longer legs
If you align Wii's Month 13 with PS5's month 26, the continuation looks almost the same! This would suggest that PS5 could reach 110k. The 10k lead would basically be the amount what PS5 was able to sell in its second year.
PS5 will win this one. Its on track to land in between the Wii and the Switch which will put it above the PS4. Thats an excellent result.
