
Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game Delayed to Early 2025 - News

It is in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
"All of us here at Weta Workshop are excited to have you join us in the Shire, a peaceful corner of J.R.R. Tolkien’s world," said Weta Workshop. "When a new Hobbit steps into Bywater for the very first time, we want that moment to be everything you’re hoping for.
"To ensure we deliver that vision, Tales of the Shire will now be launching early 2025. Thank you for your patience and continued support. Be sure to tune in to our A Hobbit Day Showcase on September 22 to learn more about Tales of the Shire and our new release date."
The Hobbit Day Showcase airs on Sunday, September 22 at 10:30 am PT / 1:30 pm ET / 6:30 pm UK and can be watched on YouTube and Twitch.

Welcome home, Hobbit! From the creative studio, Wētā Workshop, live the cosy life of a Hobbit in the wonderfully serene landscape of the Shire. Discover, decorate, and share in this idyllic corner of Middle-earth. Join friendly Hobbits and familiar faces awaiting your arrival in Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game.
Create your own Hobbit as you set forth in Bywater. Though not yet established as an official village in Hobbiton, play a big part in helping the quaint town flourish. Greet comfort at the door as you decorate your own Hobbit Hole, tend to your garden, fish at the clear ponds, forage wild fruits and herbs, or trade with townsfolks. Prepare homemade meals to share with fellow Hobbits and foster relationships.
With much to see and lots more to eat, enjoy days of splendor in the picturesque forests, lakes, and pastures.

It’s a video game. Were people getting upset about this game offering anything other than hobbits that can have skin tones that look like a wider range of players?
Maybe with the recent tide of woke failures, they are seeing the writing on the wall and discussing toning it down a bit.
The only “woke” thing I heard about is people being upset about a wider range of skin tones than likely in the books so more players can make their character look like them. It’s a video game so it makes sense to provide options.
I take it this is more aiming to be along the lines of Stardew Valley?
If so, probably a fitting setting for a game about The Shire, so hopefully doesn't fall down the same hole Gollum did.
Excellent news. I was worried this would be clearly underdone, plus who knows how the Private Division situation has affected them?
