The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S both launched in November 2020. The PlayStation 5 launched November 12, 2020 in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, and the rest of the world on November 19, 2020. The Xbox Series X|S launched worldwide on November 10, 2020.

In the last 12 months, the PlayStation 5 has outsold the Xbox Series X|S by 13.75 million units. The PlayStation 5 is currently ahead by 30.04 million units.
The PlayStation 5 has sold 58.78 million units in 43 months, while the Xbox Series X|S sold 28.74 million units. The PlayStation 5 has a 67.2 percent marketshare (+3.6% year-over-year), compared to 32.8 percent for the Xbox Series X|S (-3.6% year-over-year).

Near the beginning, this looked like it could end up being a pretty close race, but now it's just a straight up bloodbath.
Until the end of 2022 it was so hard to get hands on a console, mostly PS5, now that the component shortage is gone, numbers are back to normal. By the end of this generation, it can be even worst than XBox One VS PS4 (1:2 sales) and when PS5 Pro is released (hopefully this year) sales will jump even further, so this "bloodbath" could be a lot worst.
True. Who knows how many more PS5's Sony could have sold if they didn't have a shortage for so long?
