I wouldn’t dismiss the PS5 just yet.

July and August will see higher sales than June 2023.

July might, I don't think August will. September could be huge.

Germany, UK and the US are all having temporary price cuts for the PS5 version in August.

The sale started late July in UK and Germany and yesterday in the US.

Bundle deals have been going on for a while. But yeah, those temporary pricedrops could push August numbers beyond June's (I didn't know standard PS5 was getting a $50 pricedrop until August the 20th in the US).

If the rumored PS5 revision gets a permanent pricecut and Sony push its "discless edition", and GTA6 releases in 2024, I wouldn't be surprised if PS5 continues to keep up with the Switch launch aligned. But it's going to be a real challenge because unlike the Switch, PS5 isn't boosted by Japan. Switch is super popular everywhere and got a serious boost from COVID.

Kinda insane to review how stratospheric the Switch sales are about to get where not even the PS5 in its best year can match it

Japan is the main thing holding the PS5 back. The PS2 was the last truly popular home console there. Meanwhile, handhelds have done well, especially the Switch, which is on track to be the best-selling system ever in Japan.

Yes I think PS5 is very close to never be above Switch again. But it been doing great so far. Xbox Series is still lukewarm.

the ps5 should only be able to keep up with the switch for a while longer as the switch takes off in sales
