Switch Best-Selling Console in Europe in November 2022, PS5 Sales Up 49% and XS Sales Up 22% - Sales

God of War Ragnarök took first place on the Europe charts for November 2022, according to GSD data reported by GamesIndustry.  Sales were up 62 percent compared to the launch month of God of War (2018).

69 percent of sales for God of War Ragnarök were on the PlayStation 5, while the PlayStation 4 version accounted for 31 percent.

GamesIndustry pointed out that if you were to combine Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet sales and add the missing digital sales the game would have most likely been number one on the charts. But Nintendo does not share digital shares and the sales for the game are split.

Pokémon Violet debuted in fourth place, while Pokémon Scarlet debuted in fifth place. Pokémon Violet accounted for 56 percent of the sales for the latest Pokémon entries, while Pokémon Scarlet accounted for 44 percent.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet debut sales were 17 percent higher than Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and 23.5 percent higher than Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Sonic Frontiers debuted in sixth place and Football Manager 2023 debuted in 10th place.

There were a total of 18.1 million games sold in November across Europe, which is a decrease of 17 percent year-on-year. 7.8 million games were digital sales which is down 15 percent compared to last year. 10.4 million physical games were sold, which is down just under 18 percent.

There were 690,000 video game consoles sold across Europe in November in the tracked markets. It should be noted the hardware charts exclude two major European countries - the UK and Germany, as well as some smaller markets.

Console sales were down over 21 percent compared to November 2021. This is mainly due to a drop in Nintendo Switch sales.

The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console in the tracked European markets for November 2022. This is more than double the second place console, which was the PlayStation 5.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S both saw an increase in sales year-on-year with PS5 sales up 49 percent and Xbox Series X|S sales up 22 percent.

There were more than 1.8 million accessories sold in Europe, which is down over 11 percent compared to last year. The PS5 DualSense controller was the best-selling accessory with sales up 66 percent year-on-year.

God of War (2018) sold 5 million worldwide in 1 month, God of War: Ragnarok sold 5.1 million worldwide in 1 week, and in 1 month sales in Europe were 62% higher. If sales in the US were similarly increased over God of War (2018) then that would mean God of War: Ragnarok has sold at least 8.1 million worldwide in its first month.

An amazing achievement for my personal game of the year! I have been a fan of the series from the beginning and it is still crazy how popular it has become, should easily sell 10m+ by the end of the year.

Switch must have absolutely dominated last year if it could drop significantly and still sell more than twice the PS5. Good that both the newer systems saw growth but sounds pretty small compared to the US.

It may have a greatly reduced sales price but seeing The Last of Us Part 2 chart after 2 years makes me smile 😃

Same. I got happy as well until I remembered it was on sale for $10. :(

The hacker/leaker sure did massive damage to TLoUp2, and it sucks. ND certainly made a statement on transgenderism, but TLoUp2 was so much more than that—regardless of where you stand on the issue.

I didn’t even necessarily fall in love with TLoUp2, and it was very dark, but there’s no denying it was a hell of an experience, and one that I’ve never quite had before. I was still thinking about it weeks after I finished it. And I’ve been having a strong urge to play through it again. Games on the quality level of TLoUp2 come along so rarely, and It’s really unfortunate so many people missed out on it.

There were 690,000 video game consoles sold across Europe in November. This basically says it all. Only the Switch sold somewhat decent.
