Seems kinda low?
I'd say so. 2 million copies of a game generates like 80-100 million dollars. So that's around 70-85 million euros.
But 500,000 on pc isn't horrible.
I think revenue in this case is revenue for the publisher's parent company. In other words this is after steam takes their cut. Still doesn't make much difference your estimate is still quite accurate
It's hard to say how much they got for each sale, but if they earned €60 for each sale that would mean they sold 386k copies in six months.
Even with the assumption that the average sale was for 30€ that would mean it barely sold one Million copies.
How much did this cost to develop? Hiring the big name actors alone must've cost a fortune.
They wouldn't have been much. A few were on board with Kojima for the Silent Hills thing before and probs did thing as a favour. I would have expected the studio being setup, staffed and the game developed within 3 years would have been a far bigger expense.
Good sales, though I'd really love to see the split between the storefronts.
Does this mean that the game is no longer a flop?
Sony still hasn't released sales number for this,
Days gone didn't have sales number but it did relatively well it made top 8 overall on 2019?
Define a flop. It doesn't take that many units, relatively speaking, to turn a profit. The games that sell 20-30 million copies generate billions of dollars. 5 million copies sold for most AAA games makes double the money as the budget if not more.
I think it is still considered a flop. Sony releases sales numbers even if a game only sells aroung 5m copies which suggests that the game did not even sell 5 million copies. Depending on how highmarketing expenses were it is definitely possible that the game made a profit, but not to the extent of games like Last of Us, Ghost and GoW. Just making a little profit often is not good enugh for those companies as there often are other ways to make money with the same resources invested.
It's still a huge flop
From what we know I remember it already being profitable on PS4, so the added sales from PC are profits.
