I remember when many on this site were saying Nintendo should pack it up and go the Sega route during the Wii U era. "Nintendo is Finished" Ya right...
It doesn't even make any sense from a business perspective. Hardware generates tons of money. And Sega isn't exactly a shining example of that being a good strategy. Lol.
But yeah, the switch certainly proved a lot of people wrong.
Only 34 million units yeah it's over
Holy moly, that's a lead!
This match-up is over.
It’s dead, Jim. (the battle)
Switch ain't looking back this is over next year Q1 or Q2 switch claims the throne
Q1 is much too early. Switch would need to sell even better than it already does to catch PS4 in Q1/2022. It would need to sell 34 million + what PS4 still is selling within 1 year. I dont think we will see a year with like 36-37 million ;). I guess second half of 2022 (Q3/Q4) is much more realistic.
It's more like 2-3 million. Vgchartz counts sold to customers. Nintendo counts shipped. Once they left the factory, Nintendo is shipping them to a retailer. That's the number investors want to know. But that leaves a couple million in transit and on store shelves that this site hasn't counted. They aren't in the hands of a customer.
Neither number is inaccurate.
Depends on a lot of things. If he meant Q2 for Nintendo (July-September), then you're talking about roughly the same time period.
But either way, the switch will need a repeat of last year or close to it. Then it would only be about 15 million away from ps4 on January 1, 2022.
