I didn't even know Octopath Traveler had an Xbox version.
It doesn't yet, it is day one on gamepass as a new port.
Holy shit, was not expecting a Xbox release of Octopath Traveler ever. Think I will start Yakuza 6. I already own it on PS4 but I much rather play it on my Series consoles.
Wait, games leave the gamepass system? It's not as great as I thought it was then.
Yes. It’s like Netflix.
You want to tell us you believed every game ever going to GP will stay there forever? Sounds believable.
Yea it's like Netflix. I don't like it either but just like my current netflix I supplement it with my own local media server where I download everything I want to keep through VPN.
3rd party games have always come and gone. I anticipate any 1st party games that leave would be for licensing reasons.
Yeah and when they do, you get a chance to buy them at 20% off if you want to keep it. The value for me has already paid for itself at yearly full price twice now, and I have only had it since November. If you thought it was even greater than that, you either have unrealistic expectations or just suck at downplay.
1st party games, like all Bethesda titles, will remain permanently though. Only 3rd party games are timed.
They way I thought it worked was the games stay there, and every time someone downloads a game the dev/publisher gets a fee, or something like that.
No in many cases they receive a check up front. Sometimes it is for years, sometimes for several months. This gives devs incentive to port more games to XBox as well, as there is no risk involved. Yakuza and Octopath likely would have not been ported if not for gamepass, and now even Persona 5 is rumored as well. Even if it is believed certain games would not sell, gamepass eliminates the risk of port costs and increases the value of GP itself.
It is a win win, and in a sense, is even benefiting non GP members by still having the option to buy these ports that normally might have passed on XBox. I feel like some people fail to see the 4D chess that MS is playing here.
Nah we not doing that. GP is still damn good. Although PS Now is inferior compared to GP, PS Now games also leave the service. Even certain 1st party.
Yea I've been waiting for the steam version to drop low enough for me to get it. Looks like I don't have to wait anymore.
