Wii Menu version 4.1 is now available for your Wii console. To update your Wii Menu to the latest version, please select the Update button at the bottom of the screen or select the System Update option in Wii System Settings.
This update provides behind-the-scenes fixes that will not affect features but will improve the overall system performance.
Because unauthorized modifications to save files may impair game play or the Wii console, updating to Wii Menu version 4.1 will also check for and automatically remove such save files.
**Please note:
If you've updated your Wii Menu after 7/15/09, you may not need to update again.
Thank you for updating your Wii console!

Dear Customer,
Nintendo would like to inform you that a Wii Menu update is now availiable. Select the UPDATE button on the lower-right to update your Wii console. You can also update by selecting Wii SYSTEM UPDATE in the Wii Settings.
IMPORTANT
When the Wii Menu is updated, save data or program files that are detected as having been created by unauthorised means may be deleted from the Wii system Memory, as they may damage your console and/or cause interference with game play. Please note that Nintendo cannot guarantee that unlicenced software or accessories will continue to function with the Wii console after this or future updates to the Wii Menu.
Note: If you have already updated your Wii console since 16 July 2009, you do not need to update again.

Better not update my chipped one then lmao
Why didn't Nintendo just tell us what it does? Why couldn't they say:
"This updates fixes an error with the upcoming game, Wii Sports Resort"
I downloaded it the other day when I saw 'the glow', but I'd love to know how it improves performance.
This update is rather useless, except for wiisport resort
Any idea when the non-Japanese regions are getting the update that shows us game rankings and time played per game etc?

I am pretty sure Nintendo took care of the Twilight Hack with version 4.0.
Also you are incorrect about it being near impossible to use things like that for pirating because it is actually extremely easy.
I won't say how though or give any direction on where to look.
Nintendo can't keep up with the homebrew community, just like Sony can't keep up with the PSP homebrew community.

It's the save file where the Wii saves a SD card game to your Wii system to launch it. When you launch a VC or WW game from the SD card it creates a temporarily saved copy of the file, if you do that then play Wii sports Resort it'll make the tutorials play every time instead of just once. The update is just a bug fix.
Also, for those unfamiliar, the "twilight hack" is a hack where you load up a modified savegame of Twilight Princess and it allows your system to be hacked into. This allows you to do a number of things, the most popular being the running of homebrew applications and games. One such hack allows you to play DVDs in your Wii, so it's hardly a "piracy" issue if that's what you were thinking. So far, it's near impossible to use this feature to pirate, actually.
Changes to save files? Looks like they're attacking the Twilight hack. :o
