Metro Exodus Developer Has No Plans to Stop Developing for PC - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 03 February 2019 / 2,135 ViewsMetro Exodus was recently moved from a release on Steam to the Epic Games Store as a one year timed exclusive. Developer 4A games has been hit with criticism and has stated the move was not their decision. It was made by Koch Media and Deep Silver.
4A Games have stated they plan on continuing the franchise and there will always be a release on Windows PC.
"The recent decision to move Metro Exodus from Steam to the Epic Game Store was made by Koch Media / Deep Silver alone," said developer 4A Games.

"The recent comments made by a member of the 4A Games development team do not reflect Deep Silver’s or 4A Games’ view on the future of the franchise. They do reflect the hurt and disappointment of a passionate individual who has seen what was previously nothing but positive goodwill towards his work turn to controversy due to a business decision he had no control over. We respectfully ask that any and all valid feedback over this decision is directed at Koch Media / Deep Silver, and not the developers at 4A Games.
"The future release strategy of the Metro series lies with Koch Media / Deep Silver. Our decision to partner with Epic Games was based on the goal of investing in the future of the series and our development partner at 4A Games. We have every intention of continuing this franchise, and a PC version will always be at the heart of our plans."
Metro Exodus will launch for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on February 15.

I don't plan on boycotting the game, I love the Metro series and want to see it do well.
However, i don't agree with the decision to remove it from Steam, so i won't be buying the game until it is released on that platform. The developers deserve at least that. Not their fault the publishers made a bad decision. Exclusivity deals do nothing but hurt gamers, and their freedom of choice.
I really hope the money Epic gave you was enough Koch Media/Deep Silver.
As far as the PC sales will go, you'll need every penny.
It's interesting that if you read the statement it looks like it was written by Koch media not the developer it talks about it not blaming the developer and then says our decision when talking about the epic deal.
Well, I wouldn't call not buying the game on the epic store a boycott, im just not going to spend any money on anything not on steam, when it comes to gaming on my PC. Steam is convenient and games on any other launcher don't exist for me. Its nothing against 4A or deep silver, it just IS for many PC gamer's. It's a shame this had to happen, and it doesn't make any sense for $2 bucks per sale to Koch media, they are going to lose on this deal.
Glad for the backpedal. I figured it was Deep Silver making the call and not Metro's dev. Question is if too much damage has already been done for Exodus with the Epic game store switch up.
Well I've already seen one YouTube video piling on with the hate over these comments and likely there will be more coming closer to release. Already feels like the damage has been done. (Note, I still intend to get the game)
