Fallout 3 DLC Pushed Back To September, But With Small Surprise - News

by VGChartz Staff , posted on 13 July 2009 / 2,926 Views

Ashley Cheng, producer at Bethesda Game Studios has released some information on the downloadable content for one of 2008's most critically aclaimed games, Fallout 3.

The delays for the DLC have been caused by testing issues with all 5 of the extra pieces of content.

Cheng says "So when can you expect Fallout 3 DLC? We are knee deep in testing at the moment, and we’re hoping to have the first DLC out by the end of September. That long? Keep in mind that not only do we need to test each DLC on PS3, we also need to test each DLC when used in conjunction with each of the other DLC, as well as all of them together, along with the entire original game."

PS3 owners do get a special surprise though, the first DLC wont be Operation Anchorage. Instead we get to play Broken Steel first. This might not seem like much to some of you... but Broken Steel is the DLC which upgrades your level-cap to 30 and lets you continue the game after finishing the final quest. It is also the one most wanted and asked for by PS3 users.

After Broken Steel, Bethesda hope to get Operation Anchorage and The Pitt out shortly after, possibly at the same time as each other. After those, they hope to get Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta to us in quick succession.

The DLC being released are as follows :

  • Operation: Anchorage – Enter a military simulation and fight in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe - the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders.
  • The Pitt – Journey to the industrial raider town called The Pitt, located in the remains of Pittsburgh and choose sides in the battle between the slaves and the slavers.
  • Broken Steel – Join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave remnants once and for all. Continues the adventure past the main quest and raises the game’s level cap to 30.
  • Point Lookout – Explore a massive new swampland area filled with new quests and content.
  • Mothership Zeta – The aliens have returned, and they’re pissed. Experience an alien abduction first hand and find out if you’re tough enough to survive.

Im not sure if it raises your level. I already had Broken Steel when i got PL.
As for Pl itself, its a whole new area what you are able to explore and there are a few new quests too. Its not linked with the story as Broken Steel is, but its still good fun.

I have a question... does Point Lookout continue the game with your existing character and support the raised level cap like Broken Steel does, or is it completely separate from the main game like Operation Anchorage and The Pitt?

I'm so glad I didn't buy this game..DLC aggravates me. Games are expensive enough..stop digging in my pockets and eat out of your own.
