People insist the Wii was a fad. Yet look here- the PS4 has lost a lot of strength against the Wii. Are we sure the PS4 isn't a fad?

@Eagle367

The PS3 went on to outsell the Wii in EU, and the PS3 was a $600 console that had an bad launch reputation, even though the Wii had a max 8m sales lead against the PS3.

The PS4 was a $400 console that had one of the greatest launches of all time, and is neck and neck with the Wii.

Wii sales fell off in their 4th year in EU, I don't see that happening to PS4. PS4 is on track to be in the top 3 selling consoles for EU.

@ABizzel1 Even then 7 million is too much of a gap in my humble opinion

I suspect PS4 will eventually widen the gap with it's legs. The Wii didn't have the legs of the traditional Playstation home console.

I agree, I just think it's amazing how PS4 is so close to wii when Wii was exploding in sales

yeah definitely. Europe is very dominant for Sony this gen. these closer races are definitely more interesting than just looking at weekly chartz now lol

Europe is PlayStation land. What's amazing is how the Wii is ahead even there after more than three years

XBO vs PS3 / 360
3DS vs PSP
Wii U vs Vita would have been a good one

Switch is up next

Yeah, it's about now that Wii sales start declining. So PS4 should leg it out to a decent lead in the end.

Amazing ps4 sales.

The Wii was a fad which is why sales fell by 20% from its 2nd to its 3rd full year and 26.5% from its 3rd full year to its 4th full year. And then 35% and 59.5%. You get the idea. In the meantime, the PS4 is peaking in its 4th full year.
