This monthly series compares the combined aligned sales of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with the combined aligned sales of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in January 2017. The gap in the latest month shrunk by 511,095 units, however, it has grown by 701,589 units in the last 12 months. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One lead by a combined 21.28 million units.

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in their first 39 months have sold a combined 61.82 million units, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have sold a combined 83.10 million units.

The PlayStation 4 by itself had been keeping up with the combined sales of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, however, it has started falling further behind. The PlayStation 4 is now behind by 7.00 million units.
