Uncharted 4: A Thief's End was the highest rated game in 2016 on Metacritic with a Metascore of 93. That beat out three games that had a Metascore of 92: Inside on the Xbox One, Out of the Park Baseball 17 on PC and The Witcher 3, Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine on PC.
The average Metascore for all games on the PlayStation 4 in 2016 was 69.1, compaired with 69.8 on the Xbox One, 70.8 on PC, and 68.5 on Wii U.

To me, that would mean this is game of the year 2016, and anyone who disagrees is just mathematically incorrect.
You don't need math to know that Overwatch does not deserve GOTY. Uncharted 4 was the best game of the year.

Ok, so now I'm intrigued as to "Inside" is.
Uncharted 4 is one of the best games of all time. UC4 is reason enough to purchase a PS4.
My wife just gave me a PS4 Pro for xmas, as I requested. UC4, Ratchet & Clank, and The Last of Us.
I meant, those games are the reason I wanted an PS, as I do most of my gaming on XBone and Ninty.
Well deserved. I am glad Overhype didn't take it!
And yet it will intentionally be snubbed by pretty much every gaming website/critic as not deserving that auspicious title. Go figure.

Excellent game, but just outside my top 5 for the year.
Uncharted 4 should have been VGA's GOTY. Had it not been for Overwatch being available on three times as many platforms, then UC4 would've had it by a mile. Overwatch really didn't deserve it; If it wasn't for being developed by Blizzard, it would've been trashed like Battleborn.
It was well liked by millions of fans, that were actually able to play it on their platform of choice. Not every year has to be Sony winning.
U4 didn't deserve it either but Overwatch sure as hell didn't
Looking at the screenshots from it on google images it really looks like a high caliber AAA title.
