So that means it'll be out in time for Persona 5's release in Japan.

Japanese gamers will buy it together anyway. This way they can accrue more gross profit.

Between this and the PS4 Pro, does this mean the pricing on the old/standard PS4's are gonna drop?

I hope. Sony is a genius for doing this. if they potentially lower the price of the PS4, they'll now get people who couldn't afford it before to potentially be able to get it. Add in new customers, more people who want an upgraded PS4, and you have millions of consoles sold

if you don't own a PS4 then the PRO seems to make more sense, its not much better but its surely $100 better lol

Come on Sony... this is so unlike you to have such perfect marketing and pricing for your consoles an entire generation!! (based solely on last gen). That slim PS4 is going to sell like hot cakes, sell out in the holidays, and the PS4 Pro will be a hot commodity as well.

Why make a PS4 slim? the ps4 was already praised for being very slim

This is just smaller? Nothing new at all? Seems like a lost opportunity. I might have released the PS4 Pro, left the original PS4 in the channel (while quantities last) as the value option, and not released the Slim at all. I guess the PS4 Slim is cheaper to manufacture, and for whatever reason they intend to keep making both a regular and a Pro version for the foreseeable future. I think Microsoft's refresh was smarter. The Xbox One S did some stuff that was new (UHD, HDR, a smaller process, an integrated IR blaster, and even a small spec bump). It was enough that it gone some Xbox One owners excited about upgrading to it.

What's the difference with the classic PS4, except the size? Seems important to mention about that.

Don't think anything is, It's just the new form factor of the standard PS4 from now on that allowed cheaper production to give a $50 price cut.

Probably is more power efficient.

Nice price. I have about 2 more years, before i'm ready to flip out my PS4 for a newer model. So i guess MS will end up dropping theirs to $249 full-time.
