PS4 vs Wii U in Japan – VGChartz Gap Charts – January 2016 Update - Sales

The VGChartz Gap charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

PS4 Vs. Wii U Japan:

Gap change in latest month: 62,125 – PS4

Gap change over last 12 months: 457,082 – PS4

Total Lead: 697,023 – Wii U

PS4 Total Sales: 2,382,143

Wii U Total Sales: 3,079,166

In its 27th month on sale in Japan the PlayStation 4 gained 62,125 units on the Wii U. The Wii U is now 697,023 units ahead of the PlayStation 4. As the above chart shows, other than the most recent month, the PlayStation 4 is gradually but consistently closing the gap. The PlayStation 4 has sold 2.38 million units, while the Wii U has sold 3.08 million units.

The Wii U launched in Japan on December 8th, 2012, while the PlayStation 4 launched on February 22nd, 2014.

This is maybe the most interesting gap Chart here on VGC. It will be interesting to see when PS4 takes the lead.

Add your comment...Considering the release date of the two consoles and that PS4 has some titles launching in Japan this year that gap might be none existing soon.

not really a fair comparison as there is a pretty big flaw in the sales of the wiiu in japan.

It's juste some weeks it's not like the WII U was alone in Japan during more than one year.
