Xenoblade Chronicles X's Breast Size Adjustment Slider Removed in Western Release

Xenoblade Chronicles X's Breast Size Adjustment Slider Removed in Western Release - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 16 November 2015 / 7,044 Views

News has surfaced of yet more changes being made to the Western release of  Xenoblade Chronicles X in order to make it more family friendly.

The first set of changes, which were reported on at the start of the month, were to the character Lynlee. Her bikini clothing now covers up more of her body when compared with the Japanese version of the game, where she can wear the same skimpy and revealing outfits as any other character. Her age was also adjusted up from 13 to 15.

The latest change that has been identified is the removal of the breast size slider. In the Japanese version of the game there's a slider which allows you to adjust the size of the breasts any player-created female characters. However, in the Western version of the game it has been removed.

Xenoblade Chronicles X releases on December 4th for the Wii U in North America and Europe.

Thanks Siliconera.

In the US, it's fine if you play a game where you jam a knife into someones face and kill them as long as said game doesn't have a nude woman in it.

Though the underage girl situation is a little more understandable, to be fair.

Extremely disappointing. This was the main feature that made me buy the game. Literally unplayable now.

It doesn't bother me. People are actually cancelling their pre-orders over this though. Which is a bit drastic.

It's the principle of censorship. Like this game is targeting a child's demographic where we know it's not a children's game. I don't care myself, but I understand the frustration from gamers though. SFV just got slightly censored as well. Folks are fed up!

It's because the sensationalist media has brainwashed people to view the word censorship - regardless of surrounding context or even whether the term is correct - as synonymous with "sleeper SS agent bent on destroying the world." Not If people paused for half a second they would realize that censorship of a sort is actually necessary to civil society. There are many times in all our lives where something happens and our FIRST instinct and desire is to punch them or cuss them out or some other rash action that would be to our (often severe) detriment, but we censor ourselves for the greater good of it.

On a side note though, I would have removed it or just not had it to start with because it looked bleeding awful. It only expanded the bust size horizontally out; it looked horribly unnatural, like the chick had breast implants made of solid steel.

I don't get why this is something they need to cut out.

...Pff. I hate useless censor.

I wonder who told the developer to remove it, was it just intuition or did Nintendo tell them to do so? Plenty of Western games are not censored, so why this?

NoA did this, it was in order to avoid controversy, which was smart.

Likely done because of all the sensationalist BS going around about female objectification and all that nonsense. Or they thought it looked terrible, which it did. If you're going to have customizable breast size, at least make it convincing. :P

LOL. I was on the edge of buying this game since I wasn't sure I'd like the combat system, but hearing all this censorship shit makes me not want to pick it up by principle.

I like to imagine a group of otaku in a room, like the Genshiken, hearing this news and crying out "No! Not the oppai slider! You madmen!"

TIL this game is nothing without a breast slider, people lose their minds over it and cancel pre-orders/slander the game. That is the last thing that would have ever gotten me to buy the game.

I feel sorry for the large or small breasted female gamers who want to make a character in their own image. Now they have to settle for medium sized breasts which do not resemble their self identity.
But to be serious. I wonder why they thought a breast slider was important to have in this game at all? Is it a feature that is very common in Japanese games and it would cause reduced sales if it was missing? Seems to me that Japanese devs need to design a game with the global market in mind and design features with that in mind from the start. Most of these self-imposed limitations are superficial and meaningless, so why put them in in the first place only to have to face criticism for taking them out later for a certain audience, or to try to maintain a certain brand image?

Maybe its the westeners who should make games with global market in mind

Why are people trippin' about this? If you want to see REAL ones, the internet is at your disposal.

Disclaimer: I do not endorse doing the above mentioned.

I don't mind them removing it, its not a big deal, and no one should cancel their preorders because of it. This and the 2 "armors" (which is only for Lyn, not anyone else) are the only censorships in the game.
