The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation, as well as comparing the 8th generation consoles. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

Wii U vs Wii – VGChartz Gap Charts – February 2015 Update

Wii U Vs. Wii Global:

Gap change in latest month: 1,120,988 - Wii

Gap change over last 12 months: 20,317,377 - Wii

Total Lead: 38,527,862 – Wii

Wii U Total Sales: 9,329,635

Wii Total Sales: 47,857,497

In the latest month of sales the Wii U has fallen another 1.12 million units further behind its predecessor the Wii. The Wii currently leads by 38.53 million when you compare the first 28 months. The gap is expected to continue to grow in the next month.

Both consoles launched in November, the Wii in November 2006 and the Wii U in November 2012. The Wii U has sold 9.33 million units in its first 28 months on sale, while the Wii sold 47.86 million units.

Well, the Wii U will never sell anywhere close to 100 million, so this comparison will always be depressing on the one hand, on the other hand it's a good reminder of how well the Wii did last generation.

No it should not, since the graphs shows Wii U vs Wii not the other way around.

Yea that confused me too but these graph always compare the newer to the older I guess
