NVIDIA Introduces 3D Vision 2 and 3D Lightboost - News

NVIDIA's 3D Vision has been one of the leading 3D technologies for PC gaming since it launched in 2008. Not only does it provide support for games made with 3D in mind, but it also can make nearly any game 3D by simply using the existing depth of field already present in modern games.
Well, NVIDIA has recently come out with a follow-up to their 3D Vision technology with 3D Vision 2 and the accompanying 3D Lightboost technology.
The first part of the new 3D Vision 2 are the new 3D glasses for the system. The original 3D Vision glasses left much of the field of vision open around the glasses, while the new glasses are 20% larger and cover more of the peripheral vision while wearing them. These new glasses are also fully backwards-compatible with all existing 3D Vision monitors. The glasses alone (if you already have an IR transmitter) will run $99. The new set with the IR transmitter will run $149.
The biggest change to the 3D Vision system in 3D Vision 2 is 3D Lightboost, which is accomplished partly through a different algorithm that dictates how the glasses shuttering effect works. One large complaint about the original 3D Vision was how dark it was. While playing a game in 3D, the whole world seemed to dim while the glasses were shuttering, making the screen dim, but even worse, making it hard to see the gaming keyboard or anything else.
The new 3D Lightboost technology will make everything brighter while playing and also reduce 3D ghosting sometimes seen with the original NVIDIA 3D Vision.
Along with new glasses and new technology, there are a host of new monitors and even 3D gaming laptops inbound that will utilize 3D Vision 2. The first Lightboost-certified monitor will be the ASUS VG278H, a 27" LED monitor due out by the end of this month that will include a pair of 3D Vision 2 glasses and will set you back $699.

the screen yes, but 3D vision can be had cheaper... My 23" screen + 3D vision cost me 400€ in jan 2010.
