Overview – It is a lighter week for releases as only 2 games are in their final week. However the biggest games of the holiday continue to pick up in pre-orders. 15 games are now over 100,000 pre-orders and the top 25 are all over 50,000.

Games in final week before release – After 2 strong weeks for releases only two games are in their final week before release. The games are NBA 2K11 and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

NBA 2K11 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are this week’s top game before release. The PlayStation 3 version adds 11,000 pre-orders in its final week for a final total of 64,000. The Xbox 360 version adds 7,000 pre-orders for a total of 51,000. Expect first week sales for both versions in the 75,000 to 125,000 range.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (PS3) is the only other game in its final week before release. The game adds 6,000 pre-orders for a final total of 40,000. Expect first week sales in the 50,000 to 75,000 range.

Other Hot Games

Gran Turismo 5

Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) pre-orders pass 200,000 with five weeks left until release. The game adds 11,000 pre-orders this week and is on pace to pass 250,000 before release.

BO vs MW2

Call of Duty: Black Ops pre-orders for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions combined continue to outpace the combined pre-orders for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The gap has grown to 338,000. Black Ops is at a total of 1,495,000 with six weeks left until release.

Epic Mickey

Disney Epic Mickey (Wii) adds another 6,000 pre-orders for a total of 61,000 with nine weeks left until release. The game is on track to pass the 100,000 mark in four to five weeks.

Also in the top 10: is Fallout: New Vegas as pre-orders continue to pick up adding another 75,000 pre-orders for the X360, PS3, and PC versions combined, for a total of 695,000. The game is three weeks from release.

Medal of Honor pre-orders also pick up adding 66,000 pre-order for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC version combined, for a total of 768,000. The game is two weeks from release.

Fable 3 (X360) with four weeks until release adds another 37,000 pre-orders this week for a total of 371,000.

World of WarCraft: Cataclysm (PC) adds 18,000 pre-orders as it hits 351,000 pre-orders to date. It is ten weeks away from release.

Just Dance 2 (Wii) crosses into the top 10 pushing Kinect Adventures! (X360) out of the top 10.Just Dance 2 (Wii) has one of the biggest increases this week adding 49,000 pre-orders for a total of 163,000.

Notable mentions outside the top 10: Kinect Adventures! (X360) in the eleventh spot adds just 11,000 pre-orders for a total of 148,000. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood for the PS3 and X360 add a combined 24,000 pre-orders for a total of 172,000. Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii) jumps into the top 25 with 22,000 pre-orders on the week for a total of 54,000. Kirby's Epic Yarn (Wii) enters the top 30 with 18,000 new pre-orders this week for a total of 46,000.

I understand gotta though GT5 is Sony's most expensive games and it is bombing hard (compared to previous preorders of the genre) that even Just Dance 2 is within spitting distance of that thing!!! And how how is GT5 pre-orders a FAIL when I just said its gonna sell 500k in US first week???

GT4 sold 700k in US first week on PS2(which had over 100m console sold compared to ps3) and that game reached 10m, is this your definition of fail?

Selling millions doesn't mean a game isn't fail, look at Halo Reach lol. 4 million failed with that!

The pre-orders for GT5 in the US are fail, should be above Fable 3.

I still don't get all these Core crap? What makes game "X" core and "Y" non-core...it's like saying Move is Core and Wii is non-Core when in fact both are the exactly the same thing. I don't buy the accuracy debacle as I tried Move and I am really underwhelmed from all the hype being given this thing!!!

Big jump for Donkey Kong Country Returns. I was in shock seeing Epic Mickey having more preorders than what I thought would easily be the best selling core title for the Wii this holiday. I say Core because Wii Party and Just Dance 2 will probably trash everything in their way.

Yea I don't mind if they do a playstation plus type thing and add new features and start charging us for them...but to remove or take away from some features that for years we've had for free just so they can charge us for them I do not approve of.

I can understand adding new features and charging for them...but I'm not a big fan of the idea of gimping down/removing features so that you can charge us for them =/
