Gears 5 is Most Played Games on Xbox Live, First to Top Fortnite Since Summer 2018 - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 02 December 2019 / 2,956 ViewsGears 5 officially launched on Tuesday and has quickly become the most played game on Xbox Live. It is the first game to top Fortnite on Xbox Live since summer 2018. The game is available on Game Pass, which likely has helped increase the player base.
Hits such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Forza Horizon 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2 were released during time Fortnite has topped the charts and all were not able to top the game when they released.
Here is an overview of the game:
The world is crumbling. Humanity’s reliance on technology has become their downfall and enemies are uniting to wipe out all survivors. As Kait you must journey across the biggest, most beautiful Gears world to uncover the origins of the Locust, and fight with your squad to protect what’s left.
Key Features:
- Never Fight Alone: Play solo or with a friend in local split-screen co-op, or online co-op. Battle alongside your friends anywhere with cross-play between Xbox One and PC.
- Explore Sera: Skim across glaciers, sail over deserts and descend into sunken ruins to discover the largest and most diverse Gears world ever created.
- Visual Showcase: Play every mode in 4K Ultra HD resolution with stunning HDR at a smooth 60 frames per second.
- Just the Beginning: Additional features, co-op and competitive modes still to be announced.

Probably gonna have the biggest gears playerbase by years end thanks to gamepass.
A solid entry in the series, for some it's already their favorite. Gamepass helped but so did Microsoft finally delivering a much anticipated and quality AAA exclusive.
I'm not really a Gears player. But, as a Gamepass subscriber, I'm certainly going to give it a shot at some point. It's a big budget, AAA game with good review scores. I'd figure the vast majority of subscribers will give it at least a little bit of play.
Deservedly so. I havent been able to buy it yet, or sub to gamepass, but I've watched my brother play and it really does look amazing, especially on the x where its 60fps.... so buttery smooth and responsive. I just have waaaaay too much on my switch right now..
