Report: Cheaper Switch Model Coming Out This Fall - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 02 June 2019 / 3,400 Views

Nintendo plans to release a cheaper Switch model this fall, according to a report from Nikkei. The cheaper Nintendo Switch model is designed to be more portable, however, it can still be used in a dock and played on a television.

Also reported is a "next-generation device that is a full model change of the current hardware" will release at a later time.

This report follows a previous rumor that Nintendo was working on a cheaper Nintendo Switch, as well as a more powerful Switch that were planned to release this summer.

The Nintendo Switch first released two years ago in March 2017.

Thanks Gematsu.

Like I said, this thing has to be dockable. I don't know why people would even think it wouldn't. It has to charge...so it would literally be a waste of functionality to not allow you to play it docked.

My money is on a smaller Switch that lacks removable joycons.

Yeah I think that too. And it would still be able to play on tv

There's an infinitely high probability that you're correct.

Then games like Super Mario Party are unplayable.

Never said you couldn't connect joycons to it wirelessly.

And who said Mario Party was playable to begin with? ;)

To fit in dock it is smaller only in height?
The only other option is having circle pads instead of analogs.
I don't like the idea.

They should launch a portable dock for the new switch. Would also work with the old switch. Is a feature that old switch owners claim for long time, and would not limit the design of the new model.

So, not the fully portable only Switch that people were claiming in the hopes they'd be able to say, I told you it's a handheld and not a console.

Its more like the 3DS -> 2DS.
They remove the 3D because it wasnt a must have feature.
For the Switch case it might be the removable Joycons.
