So many haters. Good Sonic games exist, even 3D ones. And they've experimented far more than most annual or bi-annual release series.

I think that's been one of the biggest criticisms of the series; that they keep trying to fix things that aren't broken.

I'll predict the metascore right now - 67.

Is that a minus sign? If so you could be right.

Probably a 30th anniversary title.

Generations was the last good Sonic game and that came out in 2011, Lost World, Boom and Forces were bad/meh (sad cause Lost World could have been good). Honestly this franchise needs a reboot at least the 3D games do.

Someone drag this aged animal in the woods and put it out of its misery. Coming from a childhood fan...please, I'm begging you...end the suffering.

I'd prefer that they just stick to 2D for a while. I don't think it is necessary to kill the hedgehog.

Who would have thought?

cant wait to wait for potentially 2 years for another mediocre game with 50% of the same zones

Hamlock (on 20 March 2019)

The sad thing is that this is exactly what might happen.

It's impressive how long the Sonic franchise has been able to survive considering how mediocre every single major release is.

Ganoncrotch (on 16 March 2019)

You need to play Sonic Mania or Sonic Generations.

@Ganoncrotch Mania is not a major release but it's own series and Generations was over 8 years ago at this point.

How do you mean not a major release? Sonic Mania is a huge single player Sonic game which is exactly what fans of the series have been after for the last decade.... do you mean it isn't 3d?

Sonic Mania was released at $20, half of the price of Sonic Forces. It was not developed by Sonic Team. It was released exclusively digitally at first. It's obviously not a major release.

Sonic 2, 3 and knuckles were also not developed by sonic team. And a game releasing digitally means it isn't a big title in 2019? You better let Fortnite and apex legends they're not major releases, the literally hundreds of million players they have will be devastated to hear your opinion.

Sonic 2, 3 & Knuckles were developed by Sonic Team together with Sega Technical Institute. Yes, a paid game releasing exclusively digitally by a AAA publisher is a sign that that game is not a major release. Of course Fortnite and Apex Legends are digital-only, they're free to play!

Minecraft also released initially digitally only, even on the Vita and switch only later getting a physical release. But yeah you think the highest rated sonic game in the last 2 decades wasn't as important as the trash that is sonic forces because it wasn't initially on a disc.

Not gonna invest any more time in shaking my head at this.
