The VGChartz sales comparison series of articles are updated monthly and each one focuses on a different sales comparison using our estimated video game hardware figures. The charts include comparisons between the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, as well as with older platforms. There are articles based on our worldwide estimates, as well as the US, Europe, and Japan.

This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

The Xbox Series X|S launched in November 2020, while the Xbox One launched in November 2013. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do lineup.

XSX|S Vs. XOne Worldwide:

Gap change in latest month: 195,081 - XOne

Gap change over last 12 months: 4,816,609 - XOne

Total Lead: 7,682,995 - XOne

Xbox Series X|S Total Sales: 33,116,683

Xbox One Total Sales: 40,799,678

May 2025 is the 55th month the Xbox Series X|S has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the Xbox One when compared to the aligned launch of the Xbox Series X|S by 0.20 million units.

In the last 12 months, the Xbox One has outsold the Xbox Series X|S by 4.82 million units. The Xbox Series X|S is currently behind the Xbox One by 7.68 million units.

The Xbox Series X|S has sold 33.12 million units in 55 months, while the Xbox One sold 40.80 million units. Month 55 for the Xbox Series X|S is May 2025 and for the Xbox One is May 2018.

The Xbox One crossed 45 million in month 62, 50 million in month 71, and 55 million in month 77. The Xbox One has sold 57.96 million units lifetime. The Xbox Series X|S is 24.84 million units behind lifetime Xbox One sales.

i think The X1 would have sold way more systems if the Kinect was not forced on and for $100 more at the beginning

Of course, AND, giving it a better name would help too, like Xbox 1080 or Durango, Scorpio, Scarlet, etc. The code names are almost always better than the actual names.

But no, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
-The naming team: New Xbox name?
-What about Xbox Next X and Xbox Next XS (wait, that doesn't sound too bad lol)
