Platinum Games Wants Darksiders Franchise - News

It was a sad day indeed when we found out earlier that Vigil Games, failing to find a buyer after parent company THQ sold off its properties, was closing its doors, laying off its developers and seemingly spelling the end for their Darksiders franchise.

Even more disappointing is finding out what could have been. "There was a shimmer on a slither of hope, that at one point, there'd be a Darksiders III: 4 Player Co-Op," tweeted Vigil Games lead designer Haydn Dalton. "It rode off into the sunset today."

There may be even more hope than realized, however, as Platinum Games (Bayonetta and Vanquish) has expressed interest in the Darksiders property and Vigil employees. Platinum Games' Atsushi Inama tweeted: "Oh man in THQ's big sale it looks like nobody's bought Darksiders… I'd love to buy that (if it was cheap)."

Platinum Games translator JP Kellams also gave some more insight via Twitter, tweeting to Dalton "If anyone is interested in working with/at Platinum let me know how to get ahold of you via DM."

So, lots of Twitter stuff giving us a look behind the scenes of what could possibly be the coolest team-up in recent memory. What do you guys think of a Platinum Games Darksiders?
