Next-Gen Deus Ex Game in the Works - News

Eidos Montreal today announced that they're working on a next gen Deus Ex title, as well as Thief.

It follows the news last month that Square Enix had filed a trademark for Deus Ex Universe. It turns out that they are indeed working on something called Deus Ex Universe, which is set to be "an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games." Yep, you read that correctly, it's not just one game but a game world that will span a whole series of games and other media, including books, graphic novels, a tablet/smartphone 'experiences'.

The first game in what is presumably set to be a long-running series of Deus Ex titles has just gone into production for PC and next-gen consoles, so it's safe to say it's a long way off, but the first piece of concept art has been released:

David Anfossi described the story behind this piece of artwork:

"[It] shows trans-humanism segregation, which is a backdrop to our vision for the next Deus Ex. It represents a "ghetto-city' voluntarily built in order to separate the classes. The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment, nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance. This dark and dystopian vision sets the tone for things to come in Deus Ex."
