What do you get when you give the Power of Rock™ to the warriors of feudal Japan? Apparently, Bakumatsu Rock.
Developed by Marvelous AQL, this upcoming rhythm-action title is about Sakamoto Ryoma. Those who know their Japanese history will know that, way back when, he was part of a movement to overthrow the Tokugawa shogunate. In Bakumatsu Rock, he's doing something similar, except he's using rock and roll to free people brainwashed into servitude with a melody known as the "Heaven's Song". So, it's kind of like the Queen musical We Will Rock You combined with a Japanese history lesson.
This rather wacky story unfolds like a manga (text boxes and everything), which should be a nice aesthetic touch for fans of Japanese comics. It's set for a release on 27th February 2014 on, funnily enough, the PlayStation Portable.
