How?! What on earth could you have been expecting? We got a shadowdrop of 2D GoW, we got reveals for games almost exclusively releasing within only a few months, we got 2D Castlevania, GoW Trilogy Remake reveal, Neva the Hollower & Darwin’s Paradox info, a new Silent Hill,…?

This was one of the greatest presentations I’ve ever seen! It’s mind-boggling to call this a disappointment.

nothing exclusive that excites me.
2d GOW might be fun but looks like it can be played on an older iphone.
im not a big remake fan! god of war remakes will come out at the end of this generation.
castlevania does not use any ps5 power.
i pre ordered resident evil9 on switch2
metal gear collection 2? 2 games? iwill eventually purchase the plat mgs4
several of the games multi-platform.
just not impressive to me

What exclusives are you even expecting?
They didn’t just show 2D GoW, they announced a full trilogy remake.
I know you’re not a big fan of remakes, but there was still a lot of variety and strong gameplay overall.
Castlevania is my only disappointment (and I say that as a fan).
Why buying RE9 in its worst version anyway (assuming you have a PS5 or Xbox or PC)?
The MGS announcement was great, even if I don’t personally play those games.
We already know what the PS5 exclusives will be for this year and they clearly said this State of Play was focused on third-party and indie titles beforehand.
I honestly think it was a great State of Play, I get that it comes down to taste but this time there was a little something for everyone and that something was great.

I thought you mentioned before that you play on Xbox Series X this gen anyways? I didn't know you had a PS5? I just find it odd that you're looking for PS5 power in games but yet pre-order games on Switch 2 regardless. RE9 on PS5 Pro has options for 4K60 and ray-tracing and even in performance the base PS5 will perform better than S2. It's just your whole power logic just doesn't make sense to me. Most of the Switch 2 lineup thus far is old multiplat games, Xbox series no exclusives there but yet it's disappointing for PS5, like i said I don't get the logic there. Not sure what you're expecting.

i play my switch 1 the most, xseries 2nd most, playing MP$ on switch 2 now. im getting the switch 2 version of RE9 Evil Generation Pack because its a great deal and positive i will enjoy.

its nothing about power if i like the game i will play the game, if it was about power only id play on PC or have a PS5 pro and i dont have either.

i was hoping for a PS5 exclusive to blow me away.

This is literally the first PS5 State of Play I wasn't disappointed with

Imo, solid show. 6/10

It would be 8~9/10 if they showed gameplay for Gow Remake, but they came with nothing! They only said it's under development without showing anything, a mistake in my opinion.

A lot of negativity in these comments but what's the point of it? The PlayStation Brand has nothing left to prove or achieve over what it has already done.

EDIT: Apologies but going to go off on one here.

People don't want Sony to get complacent in their position. We come from eras of games where each studio from all camps were able to produce entire trilogies in single gens, now we are lucky if we get 1 game from any studio in 5-6 years (or more in some cases). The fact we are getting Wolverine and Spider-man 2 this gen is astonishing.

But where's Media Molecule and Firesprite?

Marvel Tokon is by Arc, even if funded by Sony, so out of Sony's main studios we got...trailer for Saros and a remake of GoW Trilogy which was announcement they are doing it without showing anything.

I see some great stuff in this but none of it is sparking true excitement for me and much of it that is, is by third parties. Kena sequel is a nice welcome announcement and Control stuff was amazing to see but outside of that, this was nearly all trailers for games we know or re-releases/remakes.

The PS5 has already passed the point where it needs to prove to people to buy it. It passed that point a long time ago. For both Xbox and Sony now, they're showcases aren't really about getting people to buy the consoles, it's just about showcasing the games. Looking at these showcases and saying "I'm disappointed with my PS5" is irrelevant because the point of it isn't to convince people to keep their PS5's.

Only care about Time Crisis port otherwise was 59 minutes of a black screen

Solid enough, but none of these are megaton announcements, except for maybe Marvel Tokon (based on the success of DBFZ.) Dead or Alive is pretty cool, too, I'm glad they're continuing the series, and I hope we see a revival in 3-D fighting games with Virtua Fighter 6 and DoA7.

Really curious what is going on with Santa Monica Studios. They made it sound like the God of War Trilogy Remake just barely entered development - but it's been over three years since God of War Ragnarök shipped in November 2022. What have they been doing all this time? There were TONS of rumors they were working on an original IP, something possibly sci-fi based, and that has me worried. I figure either:
A) That original sci-fi IP is still going on, and will get a big announcement and release date in the not super distant future, and will be their next big project to be released, or...
B) Things didn't work out with that IP, and now they are shifting to a more "safe" remake God of War. Whether it just wasn't working, or Sony got involved, who knows, but it would mean the last three years have been wasted :(

Shortly after I posted this, I came across this rumor/leaker comment: https://www.psu.com/news/god-of-war-studio-has-another-unannounced-ps5-game-in-the-works-that-could-be-revealed-this-year/

I hope it's true!!! :)
