Publisher Square Enix and developer Eidos Montreal during the Square Enix Presents E3 2021 showcase on Sunday announced Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

The executive narrative director Mary DeMarle in an interview with Stevivor revealed the game will not have any DLC or microtransactions.

"There isn’t going to be any DLC for this game," said DeMarle. "There isn’t going to be any microtransactions. That’s because, for us, it’s very important that on day one, when players get this game, they can have access to everything there is about this game and to experience it.

"Right off the bat, they can get all of the costumes or outfits that are available, they can find all the abilities as they progress through the game. It’s all there."

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will launch for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 26.

What a concept, very avant-garde

Not having DLC? Isn't that a bad thing?

Not if it means a full blown sequel coming sooner if it is a hit.

That also means the game is dead on arrival, meaning lack of support and upcoming future features. Sequels come regardless due to sales. Look at The Outer Worlds, plenty of DLC and still has a sequel announced.

What happen to continuing a game that you enjoy instead of waiting for a sequel that could be years away if there was one?

DLC if done right is awesome to fans. Look at Smash Brothers, DLC characters that made the game that much better. Fifa is another good example, they constantly release sequels instead of going the DLC route. Instead they charge top dollar for a full game everytime.

You need to also take in the positives. Both methods can be abused.

If they were investing the time and resources from the DLC into the sequel from the start, the sequel could arrive much sooner. We may have had a gameplay trailer instead of just a reveal.

Companies dont know weather its worth investing into sequels until they get results. Plenty of great games would have done wonders with more DLC.

Very happy you seem alone on that stance. I will take a full sequel with all the time and resources that were put into the DLC with it, than even good DLC. No matter how much I love a game, once I am done I am often just that...done. DLC in most cases is wasted on me.
