Ember Lab in June announced during the PlayStation 5 reveal event Kena: Bridge of Spirits for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC via Epic Games Store. It is a timed-console exclusive.

The developer via Twitter was asked if the game would support a free PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 upgrade and they replied by saying "Yes! We don't have the time limit details yet, but the upgrade is slated to be free!"

Here is an overview of the game:

A story-driven action-adventure, the game seamlessly blends narrative with exploration, puzzle-solving, and fast-paced combat for a beautiful, immersive journey. Kena: Bridge of Spirits is slated to debut in time for the 2020 holiday season.

This gorgeous adventure takes players on a journey of self-discovery as Kena restores balance to an ancient village in a once-thriving environment. Players take on the role of Kena, a young Spirit Guide on a quest to uncover the mysterious story surrounding the demise of the village. Using her staff and the help of her collection of tiny companions known as the Rot, the player will disarm adversaries, unlock new skills, uncover secrets, and restore the beauty of the land.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is the first game from Ember Lab, a small indie studio that honed its skills creating character-driven animated commercials and branded game apps for clients such as Coca-Cola, Major League Baseball, and Hisense. The studio was formed in 2009 by brothers Josh and Mike Grier with the mission to tell great stories with universal appeal. Ember Lab is a tight-knit team of 14 that seeks out and collaborates with emerging talent and developers worldwide.

This is great news, We need to continue to support this Pro-Consumer idea. Shoo away the days of buying games twice and start doing what PC do and just upgrade the games for free depending on your hardware.

So Cyber Punk, Control Ultimate Edition, and Kena will all have free upgrades to PS5. Not bad.

And even more like Avengers, Fifa 21, Madden, AC Valhalla, Yakuza, etc. Even though it's up to developers, most if not all 3rd parties are allowing free upgrades to both consoles anyways. Sony just doesn't have to waste money marketing the “smart delivery” tagline.

@blood_tears

Wow I didn't know all those games were as well. Yea smart delivery just looks stupid now. It already sounded stupid once they said 3rd party devs will get to decide on their own.

I'm hoping to have a 4K TV by November so that I'll get the PS5 at launch, then get this game along with Miles Morales as my first PS5 games. If not, I'll just get it for PS4.
