Persona 4 Golden Sales on Steam Were 'Much Stronger Than Expected'

Persona 4 Golden Sales on Steam Were 'Much Stronger Than Expected' - News

After many years of keeping mainline Persona titles exclusive to the PlayStation platforms, Atlus and Sega released Persona 4 Golden on PC via Steam on June 13, 2020. The game originally released for the PlayStation Vita in 2012.

The Steam release of the game sold much better than expected, according to Sega President and COO Haruki Satomi in the mist recent quarterly report. Due to strong sales Sega is now looking to bringing other titles in the Persona series to Steam and other platforms.

"We remastered Persona 4 Golden, a title previously released on the PlayStation Vita, and launched it for sale on Steam this fiscal year," Satomi said. "Because of the game’s critical acclaim and its low selling price, sales were much stronger than expected.

"We will continue to actively promote porting previously released titles to Steam and new platforms. We are also negotiating with platform holders for new games in the future, and we’re considering ways to sell under favorable conditions for each title. Among those there are measures such as preparing PC versions of the games from the beginning, with multi-platform releases in mind."

Good, they should release all of the Persona and SMT games on PC. The exclusivity on PS and Nintendo does not make sense.

Port begging? I have finished PS4 golden on Vita, but if they have made an improved version for PC it wouldn`t be hard to port it for next gen console.

Surprise, surprise. People outside of the Playstation ecosystem also like games. And Sega is hurting the sales of the series by this exclusivity.

Agreed. I'd understand if there was some sort of deal with Sony but as far as I know there isn't.

there as to be some truth in the supposition that personas success on ps enhanced its profile and that along with a section of ps gamers owning PC's helped that success I imagine that ita pc release at the time of the original vita game would not have sold so well , still i support the move but what worries me is Sega sounds like they are putting it up for future auction.

What, did they think being exclusive to the then-dying PS2 and Vita was the key to P4's success?

3rd party exclusives don't make sense in this day and age. You're not propping up a platform you own by making a game exclusive, so what's the point? Also, games from the Wii era and before really need to be put on Steam/GoG/PSN/eShop so people that want those games can buy them without having to hunt down a rare physical copy.
