Not a bad lineup of studios, next gen might be surprisingly interesting.
It does not appear that Microsoft is giving up on gaming. On the contrary, it seems to me that they are going all-in. They have incredibly deep pockets, so they certainly have the resources to make some serious noise. I hope they do. Three vibrant platforms is better then one dominant player.
Let's go, Xbox! I see they're really trying.
I much prefer the name Microsoft studios but its there clear transition that Xbox is now becoming a major service rather than dedicated hardware. Be nice to see Moon Studios in that studio line up.
So since Obsidian is putting The Outer World on PS4, that means MS is now a 3rd party developer? Right? Right?!
it's published by private division
Minecraft would be a better example of MS as a third-party pub.
Not bad. Assuming each of these studios is able to develop one AAA game in three years, then MS should be able to release (theoretically) four AAA games every year.
Erm, isnt the name of the developer of Minecraft 'Mojang' and not Minecraft?
Xbox themselves sometime put Minecraft down instead of Mojang when all other studios are listed by their names. :)
Yeah its odd but MS put Minecraft instead of Mojang at last years E3. I think they do that because no one knows who Mojang is and Minecraft has more marketing push.. i guess
If Anthem fails, then I would hope BioWare could be added to Microsofts roster.
Don't they know 13 is unlucky.
So buy more?
They did say there not done buying more studios.
Is this the same amount that sony has?
I read today on 4players.de that Sony has more developers than Microsoft and Nintendo combined.
According to Wikipedia Sony has 14. But I dont know how accurate that information might be.
I've counted 12 so far for Nintendo:
EPD studio: (Super Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, etc.)
Game Freak: (Pokemon)
Monolith Soft: (Xenoblade)
Retro Studios: (DKC, Metroid Prime)
ND Cube: (Mario Party)
Intelligent Systems: (Paper Mario, Fire Emblem, WarioWare)
Sora Ltd/Sakurai's team: (Smash Bros.)
HAL Laboratory: (Kirby)
Camelot: (Mario sports games, Golden Sun)
Next Level Games: (Luigi's Mansion 2, Federation Force)
Good-Feel: (Yoshi)
AlphaDream (Mario & Luigi)
Doesn't really roll off the tongue, not for Windows 10 store though, unless they plan to also name Windows 10 store as "xbox store", then they may as well cut out the public naming of the next OS and call it "XboX", just to confuse people further.
