by William D'Angelo , posted on 10 March 2014 / 11,361 ViewsWelcome to the ‘Top 10’ weekly feature. Each week we will be taking a look at the top 10 selling games in a particular genre, platform, most recent month, even sprinkling in the top 10 selling games from a past year. All sales specified will be worldwide, unless stated otherwise. If there is a particular top 10 you want to see leave a comment and it may be featured in a future top 10. As a note all sales figures are retail only.
This week we will be taking a look at the top 10 selling PlayStation Vita games in 2013. Last week we looked at the top 10 selling 3DS games in 2013, and the week before that the top 10 selling Wii U games in 2013.
Looking at the top 10 selling PlayStation Vita games in 2013, one of the game was released in 2011, five in 2012, and four in 2013. The one game released in in 2011 was released as a launch title in Japan. Three of the five games released in 2012 were released in November, one was released in September, and the other in June. Two of the four games released in 2013 were released in November, while the other two games were released in March and September.
In 2013 the top 10 games sold for the Vita sold 3.30 million units. No games topped 500,000 units. The top game, Soul Sacrifice, was the only game to sell more than 400,000 units. The top seven titles sold more than 300,000 units and the entire top 10 sold at least 250,000.
When you break it down by publisher there are five first party titles, published by Sony, and five third party titles. The five third party titles were all published by different publishers. The five publishers are Namco Bandai, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, Activision, and Atlus.
The five Sony games sold a combined 1.61 million units or 48.8 percent of the total games sold in the top 10. The five third party titles sold 1.69 million units, or 51.2 percent of the total games sold in the top 10.
The top 10 selling Vita games in 2013 as a graph shows sales were spread out pretty evenly among the top 10 selling titles. This is quite different from the 3DS where the top titles sold nearly one third of the all the game sold in the top 10.
Side note: There were 3.14 million PlayStation Vita’s sold in 2013, with 10.43 million games sold. That would put the attach ratio at 3.32 games sold for each console sold. There were 138 games available for the console at retail.
The top 13 titles all sold more than 200,000 units, while the top 36 titles sold more than 100,000 units. The top 66 titles sold more than 50,000 units and the top 87 titles sold more than 25,000 units.
Sony sold the most games for the platform with 2.62 million units. Namco Bandai managed to sell 0.95 million games, Electronic Arts 0.89 million games, Warner Bros. 0.88 million games, Ubisoft 0.70 million games, and Atlus 0.52 million games.

I hope this year is better, Vita deserves more love :(
Sad numbers indeed. At least we know that half (48%) of Vita's games are sold digitally.
so much of vitas library is digital only so you can't just add 48% onto the sales of each retail game.
Wow of this top 10 chart I just own 3 of the games with LBP, Uncharted GA and Tearaway but looking at the other high sellers I'm not too fussed, just a bit shocked at some terrible games like the CoD on the system selling so much.
I'll probably buy one this year anyway :) I really want the Vita to live up to it's name. (Vita=LIFE)
Reminds me of Wii U numbers, kind of. Seems to be Sony games that sell the best also, kind of similar to the Wii U here with Nintendo games.
Both consoles needs more and better third party, Vita kind of needs more first/second party too, Nintendo supports Wii U better than Sony does with Vita in my opinion.
every half-decent Vita game I can think of, and still only 250k for most.
the number cant motivate big producer enter the race. Sad :(
Looks good to me, not great, just good.
Me and many others knows that buying digital on vita means saving 5 to 10$ with every game purchased online.
Ex : At launch Tearaway was 45$ taxe included in retails, on the psn store it was 35$ and included the preorder bonuses.
That's...really depressing.
Sad numbers...
That's terrible. And people say Wii U is doing bad.
Now this is worriesome. No game reached 500k
Consistent list, however. This year can be huge, not to mention that many titles are released digital only.
Sad numbers indeed. At least we know that half of Vita games are sold digitally.

Sony should kill this abomination at E3. It's ruining PlayStation brand.
Have you ever held/played on one? It's actually an amazing piece of hardware with a range of games which would hit each genre right now too, there is no reason to hate on Vita.
Most people seem to forget that most Vita sales are digital, which are almost never tracked. So these sales numbers are quite pointless.
"most"? I highly doubt that, especially given that the Vita's memory card is expensive. Most implies a large majority (majority means over 50%)
And sabastian you forget that the majority of vita games are now only released digitally so saying that 48% of all software sold is digital does not mean you can add 48% to each retail game sold, it more likely means 48% of games are not available for retail purchase and like mdma says here if you get something like Blazblue from the store you need another 4gb of memory card to download it.... which adds about 20euros to the PSN price of the game, awful.
