Why Naughty Dog Are Not Making Uncharted for NGP
by Nicholas Taylor, posted on 09 February 2011 / 3,045 ViewsAs you are probably aware, there's an Uncharted game set to be released for Sony's new portable NGP, but how come Naughty Dog themselves aren't developing it? Naughty Dog community boss Arne Meyer has the answers.
Speaking at the Playstation Experience press event in London last week, where Naughty Dog were showing off Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception for PS3, Meyer said that they were happy to hand over the reins to Sony Bend. As for the reason they're handing it over, he said “We’re a one game studio so it would be very challenging for us,”
“I know a long time ago we had looked at trying to do that as well, but it’s really about what makes sense for the universe and for the franchise as well.”
He added that “Sony Bend’s a great studio, we have a great relationship with them, so it’s really exciting to see a new platform and see what they can do with it given all of the new control options they’ve got as well.”
While the new NGP Uncharted game doesn't have a release date, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception will be out on November 1st in North America.
