Marvelous: Muramasa: The Demon Blade on 3DS is a Pretty Good Idea - News

by VGChartz Staff , posted on 02 October 2010 / 3,594 Views

Speaking to Siliconera, Group Manager of Marvelous Entertainment Inc., Tomio Kanazawa, was asked about the possibility of the currently Wii exclusive Muramasa: The Demon Blade being ported to the 3DS. He resonded by saying:

“That’s a pretty good idea! That is one of the many things we think our fans want, and we want to provide to them,” he replied. “We at Marvelous Entertainment want to continue to meet and exceed the expectations from our fans as we continue to bring them new experiences.”

Muramasa: The Demon Blade
and Odin Sphere are rumored to be receiving HD ports, but perhaps another retail run for the game and in handheld form may not be such a bad idea.

Marvelous also plans on releasing "several" 3DS titles, including Animal Resort and a new Harvest Moon title.

I just got Muramasa and I think it's brilliant, and now that 3DS is out and people actually understand how it works, this game would be AMAZING on 3DS. I really hope this possibility is still alive because I'd absolutely buy it again.

That amazing 2D will look spectacular in 3D (how odd does that sound?)

More people need to play this game. But we really need info from the new project from them. Until now, we only have one piece of artwork. :/

If you want to meet and exceed our expectations, leave the game on the Wii and make a new game for the 3DS... Of at least port Odin Sphere to the 3DS, I don't want to spend another 50 dollars on a game I bought less than a year ago...

I like all the remakes every company is preparing, but please, do not remake games with less than 5 years old! (to say the least...)

That is a very good idea!

This is one of the games where the art in it really adds to the experience (there's a lot to appreciate), and it would be awesome to see the cherry blossoms fall with 3D effects; this is a game which would truly benefit artistically from having 3D graphics.

I think Muramasa would be absolutely beautiful with some 3D effects. It already has some of the most gorgeous 2D graphics I've ever seen. They could separate the layers so a few stick out and a few sink back in, giving it a sort of Paper Mario feel.

Is it weird that I'm really excited about what 3D graphics can do to 2D games?

I already bought it once, and it's kind of a shallow, disjointed experience, however good it looks and plays, so I won't be the target demographic for a new version.

I'm not really too sure about it. The only reason I could see to put it on the 3DS is so that we can enjoy it on a portable system. Adding 3D to the current game would not work without dramatic changes. It might be possible to change the graphics from 2D to 2.5D. Which would allow for some amazing backgrounds and maybe some "come at the screen" effects. I guess we'll find out for sure what does and doesn't work when they make some of the classic 2D games 3D on the 3DS virtual console. I'll hope for the best, but who knows for sure.
