191 million of the 2.8 billion smartphones in the hands of consumers are compatible with VR headsets, the Samsung Gear VR and Google Daydream, according to a new report released by Newzoo.

Breaking down the figure 184.4 million smartphones are compatible with Gear VR worldwide, while 5.6 million are compatible with Daydream.

Samsung announced it had sold five million Gear VR headsets by January 2017. That is just 2.7 percent of all compatible Samsung devices.

In order for adoption of VR headsets to reach mass appeal more VR content needs to be released, along with lower price points.
