Best PlayStation 4 Game of 2015 - Article
by Joseph Trotter , posted on 12 January 2016 / 6,417 ViewsThe PlayStation 4 has had a strong year, with rocketing console sales and a string of excellent console exclusives - not that you would know this from the nominees for PlayStation 4 Game of the Year. Such has been the quality of multiplatform releases that Bloodborne is the only PlayStation 4 exclusive on our list of nominees. The other nominees include three blockbuster releases from established series and the undisputed independent hit of the year in Rocket League. Will exclusivity, budget, or quirk win through?
The Nominees:
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Rocket League
Bloodborne
The Witcher III: Wild Hunt
Fallout 4
And the Winner is...
Rocket League
Community's Choice - Bloodborne (45% of the votes)
The best sports game since Pro Evolution Soccer 6 strikes again! Blending accessibility with addictive 'one-more-go' gameplay, Rocket League has succeeded where hundred-million pound budgets have failed; bringing gamers of all styles together under the umbrella of clusterfuck rocketcar football.
It's refreshing that a game with such a simple premise has found such success and longevity in a period where developers are artificially extending their games with gimmicks, proving that the best way to keep players interested is just to create an excellent game.

Yeah, i'm sorry, but Rocket League is not the best PlayStation 4 game.
Seriously ? Bloodborne Deserves this
Hey man calm there is my opinion respects there , is there in your circle of friendship is not played bloodborne GOOD its your and your friends opinion but you have no reason came here bullshit me and the community
because prefer bloodborne for so little, anyway I live in Brazil the land of football as they say around, Rocket League was successful here and Bloodborne also and here also say bloodborne is the PS4 game of the year , opinion is opinion learns to respect or nobody will respect your opinion in consequence.
@padip You tell Shikamo not to ignore all other circumstances and not to downplay a game that you and the staff liked condescendingly, wich is valid.
Then you proceed to ignore all other circumstances but your own circle of friends and acquaintances in order to downplay a game that he found more deserving and validate the fact that your opinion happens to line up with the one of the staff.
It makes you come of a little hypocritical.
You're entitled to your opinion, but so are others.
Bloodborne is the only right choice. Thankfully most of the community understands this!
Never understood the whole multiplats being given platform specific awards thing. It kinda defeats the purpose since, ideally, if a multiplat wins overall GOTY, it should win best game on every darn platform it appears on. Also, what's the darn point of the community vote if the only thing these articles give any real attention to is the editor's/writer's choice?
Any guesses what will be the absolute Game of The Year on Vgchartz?
Yeah, out of the choices, Rocket League deserved it the least, imo.
Lmao at staff's choice. Bloodborne by far. Granted I've put time on Rocket League, but just no.
Who comes up with this?!?!
Lmao, VGChartz is just giving every category with Rocket League in it the award.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. HA
Omg... What happened to VGChartz writers???
At this point in time, anything that has Rocket League among its nominees is pretty much guaranteed to win, haha...
Why the hell did Rocket League win both best PC and PS4 game? Total bullshit when you look at the other nominees.
Meanwhile all those other sites and forums have colourful votes all around instead of single copy+pasted votes of one or 3 games like on here.
Cause it was their overall GOTY and so they had absolutely no choice since they brilliantly included MULTIPLATS in PLATFORM specific awards. Cause that makes sense :P
If people think an exclusive deserved this then yall should probably take it up with Teeqoz. That is assuming he'll show to give the same speech, assuming he's not a hypocrite and keeps to his word.
Huh I tried pasting a link but it appears when you do that and hit post, your comment registers but isn't seen after the refresh, wth is with that?.
Anyway I would suggest making a thread on this subject because it's clearly gotten us to a point where we are mostly displeased with the outcome of all these results, they honestly seem fabricated and not really all that genuine.
I don't think you understood my issue with your comment in the "Best PC game of 2015" article. I don't mind you saying Undertale or Cities: Skylines should have won. My issue was that you said they should pick them because they are exclusives. If your enjoyment of a game increases by it being exclusive, then I don't really know what to say. Will Undertale (on PC) suddenly be worse if it were to be ported to the Wii U? Did Dragon Quest Heroes (on PS4) become worse when it was ported to PC? No.
Likewise, Bloodborne doesn't become a better game by being exclusive. You can argue that Bloodborne is a better game than Rocket League, but not because it's exclusive. Exclusivity. Doesn't. Matter.
However I do agree that these lists become monotonous, which is why I'll propose to Machina that next year, they make these lists "Best insert platform exclusive of 2016", and then they have a separate list for "Best multiplatform games of 2016".
Rocket League dominating the vgchartz awards!!!
(but come on bloodborne should have won)
Again, Vgchartz's writers are apparently insanely out of touch with the community. I suggest they stop giving their own GOTY awards and use the User Vote exclusively. I mean, seriously; almost half of the community agreed it was Bloodborne, but instead you put in a re-release of Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battlecars. Ridiculous.
They spend time reviewing and writng about games. The staff deserve to have their opinions heard and represented on the site.
It doesn't change the fact that our game of the Year awards are a laughing stock when compared to other websites. This GOTY was a complete joke, and you think you guys would have stopped partway and thought "Holy crap, they're really digging in to our choices, maybe we should rethink them". It's stuff like this that makes other websites not take VGChartz seriously, and the only ones at fault are the writers.
