Anyway I would suggest making a thread on this subject because it's clearly gotten us to a point where we are mostly displeased with the outcome of all these results, they honestly seem fabricated and not really all that genuine.

I don't think you understood my issue with your comment in the "Best PC game of 2015" article. I don't mind you saying Undertale or Cities: Skylines should have won. My issue was that you said they should pick them because they are exclusives. If your enjoyment of a game increases by it being exclusive, then I don't really know what to say. Will Undertale (on PC) suddenly be worse if it were to be ported to the Wii U? Did Dragon Quest Heroes (on PS4) become worse when it was ported to PC? No.

Likewise, Bloodborne doesn't become a better game by being exclusive. You can argue that Bloodborne is a better game than Rocket League, but not because it's exclusive. Exclusivity. Doesn't. Matter.

However I do agree that these lists become monotonous, which is why I'll propose to Machina that next year, they make these lists "Best insert platform exclusive of 2016", and then they have a separate list for "Best multiplatform games of 2016".

@Teeqoz My beef is the choices were so terrible that someone would have lost their job were this a different website.

They spend time reviewing and writng about games. The staff deserve to have their opinions heard and represented on the site.

This I can agree on fully, let the users cast the votes instead.

@Signalstar then don't have any community voting. Or separate the community and writers' choice and have them be separate awards. Making a hooplah over community voting and then relegating the community's choice to a footnote is rather pointless and a bit condescending.

@Signalstar No. Not when their choice coincided with the site's choice a single time. It's obvious that they are of an unpopular opinion, and should let the users decide instead. All their choices have shown is that they have awful taste and like to put that awful taste on display.

@Azuren let's not fall into the old trap of popular=good and unpopular opinion=poor taste. History is filled to bursting with examples of superior works being less popular than "pulp" works.

@Azuren Actually, we agreed with the community vote on several categories. But of course we're not going to agree with the community on everything.

It doesn't change the fact that our game of the Year awards are a laughing stock when compared to other websites. This GOTY was a complete joke, and you think you guys would have stopped partway and thought "Holy crap, they're really digging in to our choices, maybe we should rethink them". It's stuff like this that makes other websites not take VGChartz seriously, and the only ones at fault are the writers.
