Obama Calls For Research on Video Games and Gun Violence - NewsJake Weston, posted on 16 January 2013 / 2,336 Views
During a televised address earlier this morning, President Obama urged the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to conduct further research into links between gun violence and video games, film and other types of entertainment media.
This declaration follows last week's visits Vice President Joe Biden held with members of the game industry last week, as well as 22 other meetings with various other organizations.
This proposed research, along with the announcement of 23 executive orders issued on gun control, are part of an effort to reduce gun violence in the United States, especially in the wake of last months Sandy Hook shooting.
"If there's even one thing we can do to reduce this violence, if there's even one life that can be saved, then we have an obligation to try it," said Obama. "I will put everything I've got into this, and so will Joe, but I tell you the only way we can change is if the American people demand it."
