Rumor: Batman: Arkham Origins to Feature Multiplayer - News
by Jake Weston , posted on 23 April 2013 / 3,547 ViewsAn anonymous source has told Kotaku that the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins, the prequel to Arkham Asylum and Arkham City set to release later this year, will feature a multiplayer mode.
According to the source, the multiplayer will cast players in the roles of thugs working for the game's various villains - such as the Joker, Bane, Killer Croc, Deadshot, Firefly, Black Mask, and Deathstroke - as they try to take down Batman and Robin. Whether or not the villains themselves will be playable remains to be seen.
This same source apparantly also revealed the identity of the new Batman game, officially unveiled earlier this month in the pages of Game Informer, so there is some legitimacy to these games.
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of "shoe-horning" multiplayer features into traditionally single-player experiences, but the concept sounds fresh and unique, and I ended up loving the multiplayer in God of War: Ascension, so maybe I will turn around on how I feel about the practice.
Do you guys think multiplayer will end up in Batman: Arkham Origins? If so, what do you think? I guess we'll all find out when the game releases October 25 for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC.
