Heavenly Sword Film in the Works - News
by Jake Weston , posted on 25 April 2013 / 2,525 ViewsFollowing yesterday's news that a feature-length Ratchet & Clank animated film was being made, it was revealed that the same studio is also in production for an animated adaptation of the 2007 game Heavenly Sword.
Unlike the Ratchet & Clank feature, the Heavenly Sword film will release direct to video. Anna Torv (Fringe) will return as protagonist Nariko, while Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2) will portray King Bohan.
Heavenly Sword was released in 2007, and was one of the earlier high-profile exclusive games for the PS3. Despite being somewhat of a disappointment commercially and critically, developer Ninja Theory was still able to follow-up on it with 2010's Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and this year's Devil May Cry reboot.
This news excites me, mostly because I believe Heavenly Sword is one of the most criminally underrated games of this generation, and I've been longing for a sequel ever since. This animated film probably won't be able to scratch that itch, but it's the next best thing.
