Microsoft Open to Bringing Skype to PlayStation 4 - NewsBrent Galietti, posted on 29 August 2013 / 17,706 Views
The console war is heating up as the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are near release. But Microsoft may be calling a truce with Sony over the inclusion of Skype, one of the world's top online communication programs. Microsoft's Corporate Vice President of Skype, Mark Gillett discussed the possibility of Skype on the PlayStation 4 and did not rule out its inclusion on Sony's new console.
"We've worked with Sony for a long time," said Gillett. "Skype ships today on the PlayStation Portable amongst other cross-platform devices that we deliver to, and for the last few years we've also been shipping versions of Skype that run on Sony TVs.
"We're obviously not party to their pre-release [PlayStation] hardware road map [but] we're committed to cross-platform."
In addition to the aforementioned PlayStation Portable and Sony TVs, Skype is also available on the PlayStation Vita, so adding the program to the PlayStation 4 would not be a big surprise, despite Skype being owned by Microsoft.
