Destiny Set for Biggest Launch in 2014 with 1.5 Million Preorders, Goes Gold - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 25 August 2014 / 8,696 ViewsDestiny is set to have the biggest launch in 2014. It is the most pre-ordered game in the US. The top three pre-ordered games are three different versions of Destiny, and four of the top six.
In total, the game has about 1.5 million pre-orders in the US. The PlayStation 4 version is the most pre-ordered game in the US with 646,195 pre-orders. The Xbox One version has 526,869 pre-orders, the Xbox 360 version with 219,028 pre-orders, and the PlayStation 3 version 103,838 pre-orders.
Developer Bungie has posted a blog post announcing that Destiny has gone gold. This is after more than three years in development. The game is now being put onto disks and will soon be shipped to retailers worldwide.
"Destiny is Gold," said DeeJ. "Discs are being pressed and packed into crates. Destiny is done, in some respects. Even now, so close to the end, it still feels like we’re just getting started."
"So, the launch of Destiny on September 9th is an end, but it is also a beginning," he added. "How we’ll keep things lively on the frontier is a longer conversation – the sort of thing you could base an entire discussion around – a conversation that we hope is long and fruitful and just getting started in its own right."
The game is set to hit store shelves on September 9 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

No WiiU ;-(...will buy for PS3
The PS3 version actually looks very nice from my personal experience! If you don't have either XB1 or PS4, it still runs very well on PS3 at least.
Do we have any idea if these numbers are for the standalone software, or do they include the Bundles?
Probably for standalone software.
Are we supposed to trust these numbers after that ?

I will likely get this for the PS4 when the hype dies down.
This game will no doubt have massive launch numbers. I wonder what its legs will be like?
The launch numbers for this are going to be insane. Can't wait.
