Wii U vs Wii – VGChartz Gap Charts – June 2014 Update

Wii U Vs. Wii Global:

Gap change in latest month: 992,337 - Wii

Gap change over last 12 months: 17,809,947 - Wii

Total Lead: 23,670,338 – Wii

Wii U Total Sales: 6,587,078

Wii Total Sales: 30,257,416

In the latest month of sales the Wii U has fallen another 992,337 units further behind its predecessor the Wii. The Wii currently leads by 23,670,338 when you compare the first 20 months. The gap is expected to continue to grow in the next month.

Both consoles launched in November, the Wii in November 2006 and the Wii U in November 2012. The Wii U has sold 6.59 million units in its first 18 months on sale, while the Wii sold 30.26 million units.

The Wii U will go down in history as the worst sales performance by a successor released by a console manufacturer. 100 million (Wii) to 20-25 million (Wii U). a 70-80% drop between generations.

seems like Wii will have sold more in the first 2 Years than WiiU Lifetime. Thats sad ...

It was bound to happen. What Wii did was unreal. It could sell over 20 million in just a year. Rare a lot of consoles can still do that today. It's saddening, but it doesn't mean it's over for the Wii U. Sales are up and Nintendo can make a lot of profit out of it still so it's not all bad, just need learn from mistakes next time.
