The Wii U "managed" to increase. Unnecessary language.
Unbiased writing would be the following.
"In May 2014 the Wii U increased its gap over the Xbox One, due to the release of Mario Kart for the Wii U. The gap increased by 97,915 units. The Wii U leads by 1,751,791 units."
190,000 in one week(Wii U) VS 180,000 in one month (xbox one)...

Go Wii U!
Yea! turn that curve downward!
The $399 dollar Xbox One was announced early in the month for a June release. That is why the Wii U sold better in May.
The price cut has been annunced on 13 May, so, look before this date...

In this week it was not known the price drop, and XO have sold 44,000...
So, Wii U it would have sold more... and IMHO, for me XO after price drop don't will sold more of 60,000/70,000on on week...
All those Xbox fanboys saying "XBO has second place locked down" should see this :/
It's good, but it's not great. Wii U still came out a year earlier than Xbox One, but yes it's great to see Wii U turning around, even if it does start to drop. Hopefully E3 and 2014 released keep the spark going.
