Sony Executive Hints at New PlayStation Announcement in May - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 16 January 2013 / 7,829 ViewsRumors of the next generation PlayStation and Xbox have been building up for quite sometime, but nothing concrete has ever been said. Hiroshi Sakamoto, the Sony vice president of home entertainment, may have spilled the beans on the next generation PlayStation.
"That’s still a big secret, but our friends [in the gaming division] are preparing Sony PlayStation," said Sakamoto speaking with the Chilean-based website Emol. "I can only say that we are focused on the E3 gaming event, scheduled for June. [An] announcement may be [made at that time] or even earlier, in May."
This is the closest to a confirmation from Sony that the next generation PlayStation is set to be unveiled in the first half of this year.

PS4k baby.
I'm always excited for new consoles. And I have always liked that game glasslike PS4
Why would they release PS4 as a 4k capable machine when 4k resolution TV's wont become standard for another 10 years?
come on with it already
I'd be surprised if they fully unveiled the PS4 at E3 and actually also released it this year.
I'd be even more surprised if the average consumer thought this would be a good time for a new PlayStation.
It wont quite make love to you yet, but it will make love to your audio and visual senses.
fuck yeah!!
It's so coming in 2013! I can't sit for this baby!
If it's gonna be another more powered version of the PS1 it can stay were it is. They are contributing in the thinking that having more power is the thing to count in console market, up until now, and i personally don't like that way of thinking. Some others agree with me, since the PSVita sales are speaking by themself.
I don't really understand your point. When has any console manufacturer released a console that was less powerful than the previous generation. Even Wii was more powerful than Gamecube.
Well we both saw it on both side a few times this generation. For example Nintendo wii out sold the PS3 and xbox 360 considering that its the more under powered system. The PS vita is more powerful than 3DS and it so far is selling under expectation. Wii U is consider next gen and its supposely more powerful than current gen and its also selling under expectation.
So there are two sides of things and you need to look at both sides.
The wii did do very well in the short run... but look what happen to it, it was so under powered that a lot of developers didnt even port their games onto this system. That is why we now have the Wii U.
