Activision: Do You Want Modern Warfare 2 in Wii? Buy MW1 - News
by Gabriel Franco , posted on 22 August 2009 / 4,922 ViewsActivision has said that if sales for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Wii are high enough, then they'll consider doing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for Wii. Aren't we tired of that kind of tactics?

In meantime enjoy the screenshots Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that were recently released.:

Discuss MW2 over on the modern warfare 2 forum at www.modernwarfare2forum.net
I think the RE4 and Okami are good illustrations that old ports can still sell big. RE4 for the PS2 came out well after the GC version, and sold less (in America) than the GC version, despite the PS2 have an enormous HW market share advantage.
Okami sold more on the Wii, despite being a 2-yr port of a PS2 game. I'm not sure why folks think that old ports don't sell. If the game hasn't gone out of vogue (and FPS haven't yet), and the install base of the system that they're ported to is vibrant (and the Wii is), then there shouldn't be a problem.
Ease up guys!
Isn't it the same with all games?
"Wan't sequels for this good and awesome game? Buy the present game!"
What's new Activision?
The hell is with these screenshot???
Is there a dreamcast version, too?
Aren't WaWWii sales enough to judge from???
BAD ACTIVISION, BAD!
@larad, it doesn't matter if it sold less on the Wii, the only thing is was the project profitable? If it pays for itself and makes you extra money, why not put it out on the Wii?
Anyways, I don't think this is an Activision issue. All the non-IW COD games come out on time for the system so I think it's clear that the COD games on Wii can make money, it's just that for whatever reason, IW doesn't want their games on the console. Maybe they think not being on the Wii makes "badass" and "hardcore".
This is a pre-beta version, obviously they aren't going to relaese a game on this idiotic state.
The real problem is the content, the game won't have any extra to make people buy a 2 yars old game, not aditional maps, weapons, uniforms or missions, just NOTHING EXTRA. I mean, if they better up the graphics (and they will goona do) I just doesn't buy because there is not any new on the game to give motivation.
They shouldn't even bother selling CoD Games on the Wii this late.
Activision are greedy basturds that have $ sign in their eyes. They expect us to pay for a game that was released 2 years ago less the DLC content that was released on 360/ps3. They should at least make the game with great controls and as pretty as The Conduit to make it appealing, however this is still CoD we are talking about. A franchise that is coming out each 1-2 years with little improvement. If they want me to buy it, they must do a lot better than what i'm seeing right now in those screenshots and naturally, with a control scheme that is better than what we've seen so far on wii (the conduit and metroid prime 3 were epic for that matter)
@CatFangs806, sad thing is that it doesn't look like 5 year old game at all. first Operation Flashpoint released in 2001 still looks better than CoD4 on a wii and that game was a huge openworld army sim so it had to have worse graphics than games with small maps like CoD series. considering that they had all the CoD4 assets already made this game should look like Black or atleast like Conduit on the wii.
Looks like crap... still definitely it will be the best shooter on the wii. The question is how many corners will they cut regards the main feature - The multi?
No Activision, I shant. I will only buy your games if you make them interest me, not because you blackmailed me.
LoL, seems that i wasn't stupid when i was saying in MW 2 Wii thread that since CoD is selling on Wii, MW2 is gonna be on Wii sometime
The parade of people going on about the difference between the HD and Wii sales should remember a couple of things. Firstly, the main demographic of this game are not 'core' but male teenagers and those in their early 20s. The Wii has an far more varied age range. Secondly, as has been mentioned, many Wii owners do not have two consoles.
Reading the replies of rage is strange to me. I don't really understand why people are angry about this game coming across. So, it came out in 2007, does that matter to people like me that don't own HD? Well, no. If the game gets decent reviews (not scores) but reviews then I will buy it because the requisite effort will have be made. Obviously, one shouldn't go just on reviews, but it's better than guessing about the effort on this game by a few screens and rumours.
I'm sure there will be a few hands-on comments coming soon.
and now Im starting to hate Activision even more
CRAP!!!!!
That almost gave me an eye cancer...
activition is gay, there COD series is getting old, make something new damn it.. i have no idea why is people buying it on any platform, there just the same game over and over again but with new features
Yeah who ever heard of a two year wait hurting a games sales
COD MW2 for Wii in 2011 confirmed??
Here's what I have to say to Activision; F@#$ you!
too late not interested
@XanderZane:
I don't buy into the idea that most everyone has an HD console and a Wii, I think there isn't much overlap between the two audiences. However, since this game came out two years ago, I figure most of the people who would ever had wanted this game, would've bought an HD console or capable PC and bought it for those.
I can't stand the whole, "buy this game and maybe there will be more later" cause I've been stung by that before. I remember when Soul Calibur II cam out on GameCube and sold very well, almost as much as the PS2 version, yet when SCIII came around, it was PS2 exclusive. It seems that even when third parties find success on Nintendo consoles, they are quite willing to abandon it, thinking they'll do better elsewhere.
What do you want them to say?
"If the sales are very poor, we'll keep doing the same thing!"
I'll just stick with my 360. Screw this. It's too late to convince anyone to buy this for Wii. If it came out two years ago with the other platforms at the same time, then fine. But now, who cares? And besides, those screens look like a 5 year old smeared paint all over.
I call bull shit. That's the same thing Capcom said about RE4. The game sold well and whilst PS360 got RE5 all Wii gets is on rail shooter resident evil games.
So they're trying to force Wii owners into buying a 2 year old game...
I would never get the Wii version of this game. Most people who have a Wii have either a PS3 or XBox 360, so of course they will get those versions over the Wii.
So I need to buy the first one on the Wii if I want the 2nd one... Hell no I have already bought the first one on PC I won't buy it again.
Idiots...
@exindguy
My comment is relevant because people seem to be implying that by moving a million copies the Wii version of MW was some kind of success and demands a sequel on its on. However they fail to put it in context by mentioning that compared to the 12+ million sold on other systems the wii version has not been a success and there is not much reason to make a sequel on a system with 50% marketshare but less than 10% of sales for the first game.
enjoy the screens?
isnt this a given? I am sure if people buy enough of any game there will be a sequel.
DUH.
I wasn't planning on buying this, and now I'm definitely not.
Wow Activision is back with their Bs talk again.
Those pics dosen´t look nice.
In my concern, Call of duty 4 are going to be released two years later than HD consoles, and is not going to be developed by infinity ward, is obvious that infinity ward is not interested on Wii, because the sales on ps3 and 360, are extremely enough, the real question is why? one million is not enough?, of course, if call of duty MW2 get released in the future on Wii, is because Activision put the hands on it, maybe treyarch is going to be in charge again.
@Larad: what, exactly, is your point? Everyone here seems to be irate (rightly) that Activision is, essentially, blackmailing the userbase when the series has racked up solid, profitable (there wouldn't be this game if COD3 and WAW hadn't made money), sales, irrespective of how it's done on PS360 (which has, literally, nothing to do with this situation).
Now, since nobody is arguing whatever it is you're arguing, you've not only failed to have a constructive point, but you've also managed to erect a strawman that doesn't even make a little sense, something that takes a special gift of illogic to pull off.
They lie. It's already in development.
Lol, people mentioning the million plus sales of wii versions. You're right, 1 million copies sold on a system with 50% market share sure is equal to 12+ million on the HD systems....Oh wait...
Well do we really want MW2 to be damaged like MW1? I mean common it looks like a damn PS1 game from what we have seen screen shot wise.
Fix the gfx and makethem look on par or better then WAW then people may consider purchasing MW1 haha.
As it stands I will continue playing it on my PS3.
@naraku
You can't, but you can make a quality game for the wii. You don't expect similar quality, but the graphics on this so far look terrible.
"student says:
Activision, want us to buy MW1? Make it a decent game and not a half assed port"
You can't take a quality game, put it on Wii and expect it to be of the same quality.
Wow, another reason to NOT buy this game. Thanks activision :)
I guess they consider the million plus sales of every CoD game on the Wii to be a major flop and financial loss. Infinity Ward seems to be the issue I think. W@W got a quick release on the Wii and so did CoD3. Infinity Ward seems to be the ones refusing to support the console despite a clear fanbase and decent sales.
That's the usual of Activision. For that reason they took EA crown.
disreguards WaW and its 1million + sales
Sorry, not interested in this or any Activision series on any console.
Naahh, thats OK.
Thanks though.
10 players online, drop in/out 2 player co-op
Two reasons right there, source was Go Nintendo
All I needed was motivation not to buy MW for the Wii. Thank you Activision.
Oh wow there is so much wrong with saying stuff like this. Bad bad bad.
Activision, want us to buy MW1? Make it a decent game and not a half assed port
If a game doesnt sell wells, the customers are doing bad, the industry must complain about the customers then
Those idiot customers, they dont deserve our games
Wow, I guess activision really doesn't want MW2 on wii, why otherwise would they spit out a game with half assed graphics and NO WII SPEAK?
Funny, I thought businesses were supposed to work to please their customers, not the other way around.
Also, that's typical Activison making you empty your wallets for 2 year old ports and somewhat forcing you to buy this in order to port Modern Warfare 2 over to Wii. It's only somewhat forcing if you really want MW2 on Wii.
I will purchase this just because Modern Warfare was great. Will the Wii's controls make it the best version? Consumers will have to find out for themselves. Obviously it's not the best version graphically, so "graphic whores" have no need to come here and acknowledge that.
Wow, never heard that excuse before.
If they want me to buy it, make it look like a Wii game, not a PS2 game.
As long as the game looks better than the screenshots we have seen thus far, it is worth a purchase.
Want my money? Do something new.
It's not ''tactics'', it's just the way it works. If a game sells then it gets a sequel, if not then it won't get one. I doubt the percentage of shoter fans on the Wii is high but since the Wii has a instalmentbase of 50+ million I think it will succeed. But the truth is that other games that are succesful on the HD consoles such as Madden arent really selling well on the Wii.
wow so we have to pay 50$ for 2 year old game that looks like shit compared even to last CoD on the wii, is dumbed down big time, don't include any additional content that was released as DLC on ps360 cause you want to release it as DLC again and make us pay 5-10$ for something we should have from the start so we can get another dumbed down 2 year old game for 50$? way to go activision, way to go.
Activision don't deserve any sales with this type of arrogant behavior.
Seems reasonable to me...I mean there are allot of sequels that heavily rely on the 1st one selling well enough.
