With these numbers, Switch should do at least 2 million this year in Japan alone!!

That Switch market share...

Why isn't Wii U in that chart? it sold more than 3 million in the past gen.

Those PS5 numbers this past year are bad.
We'll see how MH Wilds helps to sell PS5 this year.

im not the person in charge of this post (obv)…but i think the reason Wii U is excluded here is b/c it was discontinued all the way back in January 2017. Seeing that this chart is only comparing 2021-2024 marketshare data, it doesn’t seem like it’d make much sense to include Wii U. You could maybe argue for including 3DS, but Wii U is too old.

But why is the PS4 included then? It was discontinued back in 2022. Since April 2022 Sony does not report PS4 hardware anymore just Software is PS4+PS5. Hardware is just PS5.

2022 is much more recent than 2017. I’d imagine by 2026, we’ll see these tables drop PS4.

Absolutley! But 117,2 million is full now. Maybe they'll drop it even this year?

I understand that, but why then One is in the chart? it sold 0 units since 2022... but have its lifetime numbers there, to help make a rating, for some reason. So, where are the WiiU numbers?

That 98,8% of share market by PS4 would be something around 75% if WiiU was in the chart, and that not only would be more correct to understand how well EVERY console really sold during that generation respect the other ones, but a more interesting chart, just for being complete. A "Rating" without all the competitors... is useless: Nintendo was not absent all those years.

If they do not want to use Switch against Ps4 and One, they have to use WiiU, easy as that. WiiU was released in december 2012, that's 1 year before One in Japan, and 1 year and 2 months before PS4 in Japan, and competed against them until march 2017.

Meanwhile, Switch was released 3 years and 8 months BEFORE PS5 and Series in Japan, but it counts as the same generation (at least, "market" generation). So, what is happening here? Why not the WiiU numbers in that last gen rating? WiiU got better ratings (NOT absolute numbers, but RATE numbers) than N64 in Japan. It had a "decent" percentatge of the domestic consoles market during that generation.

Well... I suppose very soon nothing of that will even appear anymore, but I wanted to show my disrespect for the decision of not including that console.

Because the chart is showing data from 2021 until 2024 and in 2021 there was still Xbox One data
