The VGChartz sales comparison series of articles are updated monthly and each one focuses on a different sales comparison using our estimated video game hardware figures. The charts include comparisons between the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, as well as with older platforms. There are articles based on our worldwide estimates, as well as the US, Europe, and Japan.

This monthly series compares the aligned US sales of the Nintendo Switch and the Xbox 360.

The Xbox 360 launched in the US in November 2005, while the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. Therefore, the holiday periods for the two consoles do not lineup, which is why there are big increases and decreases.

The 360 will likely cut the Switch's lead over the next 2 years but it likely won't be enough to beat the Switch in the U.S.

Switch US sales will probably pass 360 US sales sometime in the first half of next year.

I don’t think the switch is going to sell 8 million consoles in the US by June 2023

But didn't it do a little bit more than that over the past 12 months? Obviously I'd expect a decline over the next 12 months, but like how Nintendo's forecast is only a little less than the prior year, would US sales only be down slightly YOY?
