Cyberpunk 2077 Ships on Two Blu-Ray Discs for PS4

Cyberpunk 2077 Ships on Two Blu-Ray Discs for PS4 - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 01 December 2020 / 3,754 Views

Last month CD Projekt RED delayed the release of Cyberpunk 2077 once again from November 19 to December 10. It will launch for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, and have support for the Xbox Series X and S, and PlayStation 5.

A Reddit user has posted an image of the physical box of the PlayStation 4 version of the game, which reveals what comes in the box. The biggest news is that the game ships on two blu-ray discs. This indicates the file size of the game is a minimum of 70 GB.

Also included in the physical version of the game are a world compendium, stickers, postcards, a game map, and digital content access.

With physical copies of Cyberpunk 2077 getting ready to be shipped it is very unlikely it will be delayed again.

Dual Layered BD gets 50Gb capacity. You would need dual layered and dual side BD if you were to avoid 2 regular discs, don't think it is a better choice than 2 discs. That is why PS5 ended up with 4k BD to go over 120Gb capacity if I'm not wrong.

No other way around since there is no 4k drive on PS4. but if Xbox version of the game is one disc only owners of the original X1 will need to buy it digital or what will happen?

If they ship it on 1 disc it would probably still work as the play disc on the XB1 but you'd have to download the rest of it.

I dunno if the regular BD reader on X1 or PS4 would be able to recognize the disc enough to validate the license and do a digital download (in fact I don't know of any game that putting current gen disc would allow for digital license).

Oh I see what you mean. I'm not sure how it would work if they only ship it on a 4K disc. Maybe digital only like you said?

To make use of their smart delivered perhaps they will ship base game on a dual layer BD (50Gb) and all Xbox will need to download content, or perhaps they will also put 2 discs on Xbox.

CDPR is very consumer friendly so I'm guessing the Xbox version will also be 2 discs so that it can be preserved physically.

Would be the best choice imho.

Agreed. CDPR has a history of going all out for their physical editions so 2 discs seems pretty likely.
