by William D'Angelo , posted on 05 April 2021 / 9,410 ViewsGameSpot has posted a video comparing the load times of some backward compatible games running on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
The load times for Red Dead Redemption 2 are nearly identical on both consoles with the Xbox Series X version loading in 1 minute and 4 seconds and the PS5 version loading in 1 minute and 5 seconds.
Four other games tested did load faster on the Xbox Series X than the PS5. Final Fantasy XV loaded in 48 seconds on the Xbox Series X compared to 1 minute and 10 seconds on the PS5. Destiny 2 took 42 seconds to load on the Xbox Series X and 57 seconds on the PS5.
Monster Hunter: World loaded in 35 seconds on the Xbox Series X compared to 51 seconds on the PS5. Batman: Arkham Knight took 58 seconds to load on the Xbox Series X and 1 minute and 7 seconds on the PS5.
GameSpot has put together a load times comparison for some BC games

I thought the ps5 ssd was faster?
BC games aren't utilzing the full potential of the new storage. However, the Series X does have a CPU edge and that might be where Series X is benefiting.
DF mentioned that BC don’t use enhancements of the PS5’s SSD and a lot of games will receive patches that will use the Enhancements.
Series X doesn't either for BC titles.
a firmware update fixes alot of this. The numbers reported by Nibel are just incorrect, compaired to how it will be at launch(with fireware updates).
Just taking a guess, but maybe its CPU related? Digital Foundry showed even a slower external SSD had similar load times as the internal for BC content.
And they done a very poor comparison.
Useless comparison and people will use this information wrongly for years to come.
Is has already been confirmed by Digital Foundry that the PS5 SSD is slower than an external Samsung QVO 860 SSD.
Sure thing.
Mind to show where did DF made this claim?
"PS5 SSD is slower than an external Samsung QVO 860 SSD"
Is this good or bad?
It is false.
QVO 860 SSD have a 550Mb/s read and 520Mb/s write so it is about 1/8 of PS5 SSD. I'm waiting for him to provide the evidence for this claim.
this is faulty information, from Nibel.... its on a early PS5 running on old Firmware. With new firmware, FFXV loads in like 14sec, and MHW is doable in 16sec. Compaire those numbers, to ones above by Nibel.
here is the youtube video with new firmware proveing it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrDghoYLBSw&feature=emb_logo
The Japanese video starts counting the time from the in-game menu screen, while the Gamespot video linked by Nibel starts counting the time from the PS5/XSX menu screen.
What about the witcher 3 loading 16 seconds faster on ps5? Someone explain this.
*Tries to be surprised
